About a hour ago a young man walked in the parts store with a camera in his hand and ask me if I was the owner of the old black car in the parking lot and I said ,"yeah" and he came toward me and said,"is this your camera?"

"It looks like mine but mine is in one of those purple Crown Royal cloth bags"

The young man replied,"That's what I though,I saw a seedy looking guy looking at your car when I was parking and saw him look around and reach in and grab the bag out of the car and haul *** around the side of the building,he took the camera out and threw the bag in the dumpster."

"I walked up behind him and told him I saw him steal the camera and I'm calling the police,he dropped the camera and ran"

"I picked it up and thought the best thing to do was try and find the owner."

We hear a lot of bad news about people in general but I experienced just how good people and be.

I thanked David and handed him a 20 dollar bill for his honesty,he renewing my faith in my fellow man. HRP

Be careful Danny, you don't want to screw up your shoulder again dumpster diving. Good to hear that there are still some good guys out there.

Seriously, thanks for posting. In this era of political, religious and racial "stuff", it's nice to hear some good news.

Great story, Danny. David deserves a pat on the back not only for his honesty and willingness to step up for a stranger but, for his bravery as well. Around here that thief probably would have been carrying a shank.

Harder to be a good guy these days, That kid could have just as easily went to that guy and said something and got shot, and for what, a camera.....and it could have belonged to someone that was sorrier than the thief.
Good on you for being a good guy and tossing him a twenty, but in all honesty, that kid could have been pulling your leg also, hopefully not but...
I was in a big city hospital waiting room one day with family and this guy comes in, sits down (in the middle of everyone) dramatically crying and talking on the phone loudly where everyone could easily hear him and saying, "mamas dieing and Im down here with no money at all and the car is out of gas, I dont know what Im gonna do unless I get some money somehow" but after I and others gave him a few bucks, before we knew what hit us he was gone. I and others there were almost 99% sure we all just got hustled after having time to think about it.

Probably not the case with you but I have found their is no level that some people wont stoop to.

Score 1 for the good guys. It's so easy to turn the other way and not get involved. I love reading and hearing about people who step up and act like civilized human beings.

As for the CR bag, I carry my digital camera in mine.

As much as try to be optimistic these days, what you said can be very true sometimes. In this case I think "56Don" is probably right.

TRUTH!:D Man that's funny, theft not withstanding.
I have my faith in humanity boosted every day, when I pick up my kid from school.:) Too bad the "real world" is going to kick the stuffing out of all those beautiful little beings, so full of faith and courage...:(

I heard something years ago that stuck with me when I get to thinking people ****.
I made a comment lumping humanity into one big selfish, dishonest and generally unpleasent group.
My buddy asked be what about the guy that lives on the right of you, I said well Bills a great Guy, He says how bout the folks on the left, again I said Harlan is a nice fellow, good neightbor. He says how about across the street, I say yea everyone in the neighborhood are good people.
So he says , "Well quit making generalizations you can't back up" Point taken...

There are definitely good people out there but the level of how bad people can be (lower) and the feeling of en***lement (higher) makes for a bad mix.

Back in the day everybody carried their stash in a Royal Crown bag. Not sure why but they were very popular. Clay pipe, br*** pipe, poker on a braided leather strap, papers, film canister,
dug out, roach clip with a feather attached and a lighter. Every thing you needed for the concert. Old car and a Royal Crown bag? Bet he was having a flashback. Still a thief though.

Where were you two during the 60's and 70's? If you went to any concert at all (except maybe Pat Boone) you had to breathe, right? Denial isn't a river in Egypt.;)
(Actually the RC bag I was describing belonged to a close friend of mine who went on to worse things and is no longer with us. Every time I see one it brings back a lot of memories, good and bad. Believe it or not I was the one always trying to talk the others out of doing stupid/dangerous stuff.)
