I'm sure some of you guys are nice folks, but I NEVER want to ride with you. Well, most of you.

As I read your choices, I see doofuses with pimples, wiggers, the cast from My Name Is Earl, the cast from Dukes of Hazzard and a bunch of moon drinkin' hillbillies.

To the guys who think it's cool to inflict their rotten musical tastes on the poor unfortunates in cars and houses near them, I say: I hope you are forced to listen to Lawrence Welk when you are hungover.

And even worse, admiting to being a fan of talk radio should deny your right to vote. Think for yourself, sheep.

You ***hats have turned me into a grumpy old man! Turn that **** down PUNK!

And me? I like soul music in the custom. Cl***ic old style country in the pick up truck. Bluegr*** for getting that all important speeding ticket to preserve my hot rod cred.

And dig this: I'll play Ornett Cobb, Sun Ra, Albert Ayler and serously HARD be bop when I get you trapped in my car to retaliate for that **** you mentioned above. That'll teach you whippersnappers a thing or two about music!

    Chew on THAT! PUNKS!

When you get right down to it, your still in "fly over" country. (According to some people you're state's no more relevent than Timbuktu!) Great lakes, better fishing tho! And thanks for Prince and the Revolution, he/they are awesome!

  5. It's a blessing to be in flyover country.

As for those who don't find Minnesota to be relevant to them, well, the feeling's mutual, except that Minnesotans are much less provincial than the coastals.

Nice idea for the thread, mpls cafe racer.

Says a guy who comes from a state with a freeway that seems to have no turns.

Last I checked we have the boundry waters, Brainerd International Raceway, awesome national forests and hiking, the #1 snowmobile trails in the country, etc.

In fact, I can't really think of any reason why anyone would think MN is irrelevant.

Now Nebraska? Hmmm... I've never actually heard of anything that made me even consider Nebraska a real state. :D You guys have Corn, and a straight highway. ALRIGHT! LET'S PARTY!

    Easy there, Little fella.
I wasn't trying to hate on your state-and Yes, I have been there.

Perhaps I should have said "Wait , Aren't you from a State with much more rural oppurtunities than Urban ones?"

    and yeah...Nebraska...whew. corn,corn,corn,stopsign,corn,corn,corn,

But, I grew up in the Panhandle of Texas-where the land is literally so flat that you can SEE the curvature of the EARTH. No ********.
wanna talk "Sp****?" Imagine living on a country road and having clear vision to the highway ...that is 5 miles away.
The land of the leaning trees-It is called that because even the wind is in a big ****ing hurry to get out of the panhandle of Texas.

Compared to a lot of other states? No. Not really.

Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Mankato, Redwing, St. Cloud, Duluth, Brainerd/Baxter, Fargo/Moorhead.... you can't really go anywhere in MN where you're not somewhat near a large city with any amenities anywhere else would have.

In comparison to states like Nebraska, Iowa, other plains states? Much less "rural".

I can't, and wont, speak for Amherst.
It's all God's country, even the lousy parts.
(that 'flyover' comment wasn't ment as a slam, I'm with northern skink on this one.)

    Hah!
I swear I once saw a sigh on the side of the road in Iowa That stated
"You are now in the middle of Iowa!"
    Whee!

as far as freeways with no turn, I offer this very, very old saying.
    "The sun has Risen,
    The Sun has set.
I STILL ain't out of Texas Yet."

It's supossed to be affirmative, but as I recall on our Recent Mokan trip, it took us less time to drive across Oklahoma than it did to get to the State line of Texas. None of this "Yay! The state line, I'm almost home" **** for us Central Texas Kids...more like "Great ! The State line! I only have to drive 8 MORE HOURS to get to the county I live in, then it's only 1 more hour to home!"

as far as musical tastes are concerned, start with Early country, end with ...polka.
everything else, I pretty much have covered.
greatest hits include Old punk (The newer stuff has it's moments...but Good charolette should die in a firey plane crash and give us back The Clah...I miss Joe Strummer.) Varying Degrees of Metal (Still can't listen to Judas Priest with a straight face) lots of Southern Rock (Check out Suplecs, R.P.G., and Dixie Witch for good drivin tunes)
"Cl***ic Rock" -errr. some. gotta be in the right mood. Thin Lizzy and Sabbath are on rotation.
lots of earlier Psychobilly-you know, back when the B*** players actually PLAYED thier B*** as an string instrument, rather than percussion. New stuff...Tiger army is okay, only because they have an ex member of Samhain a**** thier ranks. (Speaking of which, did you ever notice who tours on Drums for Queens of the Stone Age? I ain't tellin if you haven't seen them live...it's a trip.)
Pop radio ****s, therefore, I don't listen to it.
New country needs to die a horrible death. (It was fine before EVERYONE sang through a Leslie...If you can't hold a note, then don't use a computer to do it for you.-That used to be "Part of the gig."
Hmmm. I also lean towards Stuff like Tom Waits-all of it. Nick Cave and the Bad seeds (although I cannot for the life of me explain what the **** happened on thier last two albums.)

On a humorous note, I have been listening to alot of Danzig lately...HAH!

Fu Manchu, and the entire host of Cali Stoner Rock bands from the early 90's era are kicking **** lately for driving music.

Valient Thor (I didn't mispell that) The Sword, and "I love you, but I have chose an IMPOSSIBLY ****ING LONG BAND NAME" Should go flying with Good Charolette. Perhaps they will fly into the Hot Topic world headquarters and do us all a favor.

Gansta Rappers, I have discovered, typically are neither.

Old Metallica is good stuff. don't beleive me? Listen to Ride The Lightning again, just for ****s and Giggles. Bet you a dollar you still know all the words.

  16. As an "over-the-road" trucker I've been in 43 of the lower 48 states. I've never felt compelled to relocate to anyplace other than here. :)

Someday I'll check out Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.

    Maine ? Not interested..... :D

On the ride up to the drags a few weeks ago I ran through all the cds from my favorite ******** band Good Riddance. Its fast enough to be good and loud but it also has some melody so it doenst sound like the same song 60 times in a row. I love old reggae but I cant handle that in the car or Ill be asleep in no time.

I like alot of stuff like D.K's, Stooges, Mc5, and a TON of obscure ****.
I still prefer early Social Distortion to the newer stuff (When did Mike ness turn into Elmer Fudd? )

On Judas Priest-"Ram it Down" is far and above scarier than oh...say "Prison ***" By Tool.

Did you know Blixa left the Seeds to re-form E.N.? apparently, a new album is in the works, and they have apparently collaborated on Caves new Side project "Grinderman" Which , I am told, takes up where Murder Ballads left off.

There is a release called "Cliff 'em all" somewhere. One of the guys here played it recently-BAD ***.

I wonder, If he had lived, what his Hot Rod would look like.....

Brave Combo is pretty good, But The White Ghost shivers are better.

somethin about a 7 foot tall (no b.s.) Tuba player just makes me smile.

Been gettin' into more Dub again...Don't know why.
I actually played Trumpet in a ska band for a year or so, toured with the skatalites, Toasters, scofflaws, and various others.

Actually, he never left E.N. He was the founding member and has always been in the band. He was in The Bad Seeds on the side, which is why he didn't tour with Cave on all the tours. E.N. put out an album a few years ago called "Perpetuumobile". Good stuff for sure.

The seminal members of E.N. have always been there right alongside him too.
