It was a fairly nice fall day this afternoon so me and my helper Adam went for a Sunday drive to pick up yet another engine I had bought. We were in another county and about 45 miles from home and decided to explore the area somewhat. Adam remembered hiking long the river near here when he was a kid and said there were lots of old cars used for soil erosion control along the river banks. We didn't get too far when we found the place. They are still there.

um i know i would be using my screw drivers and what not to save all the chrome and stainless trim i possibly could! and a steering wheel puller!
I NEED that hudson emblem. However, I do understand leaving the parts. Thank you for sharing. And thank you for leaving them in their resting places. rust in peace.
That looked like a 37 plymouth front end, too bad. I know at the time the cars were considered junk, just too bad that 50-60 years later we wish they wouldn't have done it. The cars are really buried deap too, wow.
very cool photos, thanks for posting. There is a simular place here in Bakersfield ,if I told you I would have to kill you, with a little over a dozen old cars tossed on the river bank. My guess they were put there sometime in the mid '30's because the newest car we seen was a '30 '31 A coupe and sedan but mostly mid to late '20's Essex dodges and other unidentifiable stuff. I took the coupe cowl home for a planter and the wierd thing is that one half is compleatly rusted out and the other is actually really good, not even needing a patch panel, we also seen bits of upolsitry on the sedan .
OMG, what a terrible site! I can only imagine what Mark's pals Pretty Boy and Fancy Pants would say about that.
There are several cars one a creek bank about 10 miles north of Salina right off highway 81 on the east side. Always want to stop but don't know who's property it is. When I was a kid in the 70's, my dad put dozens of VW's along the Kansas river.
A dam or two, a few 55 gallon drums of molasses and in a couple of weeks... you'd have rust free parts!!!!
Hey Poverty Flats, If you float a hundred miles south on that same Walnut River you will run into a bunch more south of here.
Scott, I was north and west of Salina but not on the Walnut river. I don't think your river is near us up here.
