I am looking for feedback on how items from Kanter Products hold up. I have never used them and have seen them advertise for years. Thanks in advance for the replies.
..You may need to be more specific about which parts in particular as they have a huge # of items. I'm reasonably sure that some are better than others.
I used their parts when rebuilding the front suspension on out 1954 Ford Ranch Wagon, no complaints from me. HRP Rebuild Front End Kit - FEKDFOR541 - Kanter Auto Steering Idler Arm - IA18516 - Kanter Auto
I have recently purchased a cam, lifters, and rocker assemblies for early olds. Nothing looked offensive out of the box but I have not started the motor yet. I was going to go another direction but I am getting married in the spring and really want the car running by then, and couldn’t get other options in a timely manner. I will say that once they shipped them, the parts damned near teleported from New Jersey to CA. Super fast shipping.
As said, been a leader in the biz for decades. Just realize they don't manufacture all that stuff. As @lothiandon1940 mentions, while they try to provide the best value across the board, some stuff is only from one source, so it may be the only game in town and not as good as other stuff. This also means you may find the exact same stuff elsewhere. It's up to you to decide who has the best combo of price and service for your needs.
This is a very good point. Using the stuff I bought for the olds 324 as an example, they are made by a company called “packard” that I believe Kanter owns. So the new production camshafts, rocker arms, etc were all made by them regardless if they are bought from kanter, egge, falcon global, etc. The pricing can vary substantially for the same part.
A couple earlier threads about Kanter: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/kanter-auto-products.1248788/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/kanter-auto-parts-you-should-know-bout-em.229948/
I used them for parts on a 1957 Plymouth sedan I had as a daily driver. I purchased wheel cylinders and outer tie rods. They were all good. I had the car for about 10 years with no problems with those parts.
I just purchased a oil pump rebuild kit for Ford 8ba. End cap gasket was destroyed in the bag with all the other metal parts, might have well been in a blender... the helical drive gear was .010 larger in diameter than the Ford original, wouldn't even fit in the case without turning it down on lathe. Main drive has NO hole for pin to lock on gear, and no pin! Probably just pissed away 80 bucks on shit...
Yeah NO this needs addressing to them, not trying to swallow it. They have not got where they are with that type of product. Contact them now.
