Making a little more progress After disassembling the cab, on a whim it put the shell on the chassis. That was the serendipity in the plan I needed, I put down the patch panels and wood kit and started stabilizing and bolting together. It's reminding me a little of Big Ken's truck, just an earlier version that's good I've always liked his. Shiny and new can wait besides now that I connected with the original owners son, I can't wait to take him for a ride.
I also started on the bed, built a steel structure that will be similar to a "T" wood bed and adaptable for my needs, box, racks or flat. Mock up of bed via photoshop...
I've been busy in the build and neglecting the post so thought I'd give a little update. Getting close fellas, I need less than a handfull of items but time seems to be the hardest one to find. Occasional I'll slow down a bit too so my boys can help, if its a bolt they can tighten I'll call it a night and wait till they can participate. For now the bed is done, except mounting of the tailgate. Also added the air shocks to the back to help compensate for added weight while hauling. I kept the friction shocks on the outside to keep the look but left the adjustment loose. Those annoying plastic air lines have been covered in woven cloth wire cover to help hide em. Engine is ready fore fire up once the last fuel line is reshaped. Brakes are almost complete I dropped the cash on the brakes getting new cast drums and every linkage roller and plate properly machined and set. Rear backing plates are waiting on bushings but the fronts are bolted up and ready for a farm road pass. Close.
Krap, that is what I was gonna say.... Very Kool! Love the stance and the picture with your boy is priceless. Happy Trails, Mick
Don't know yet, paperwork from the state may not be finalized by then and can't see a reason to trailer it there. I'll be checking the mailbox as days grow closer.
unofficially on the road: Finally took it for a drive, a couple little things left here and there but mosty finished for my taste. Passed a full inspection and plan make my first drive to town for the cruise night this Friday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8flytvjGrao http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOS0sMSCJis&NR=1
In time for NoSurf's Mid-West HAMB-B-Q and to support my little ones growing interest of camping and fishing I took a look at the travel trailer boom of the 20's - 30's and added more fun into my truck project: Here's my interpretation of an overnight camper. While it's not sturdy enough to run down the highway, it does give decent shelter while taking minimal travel room stored in the bed. I designed it to assemble quickly using wood dowels and wing nuts, I made the canvas movable so either side and the rear cover can lift up for sun shelter. So far Ive added a hammock, cooler, stove, the coach gun and fishing rod. I think once the Victrola with Flatt & Scruggs 78's arrives I'll be set. What ya think?
Chris, that is about the coolest thing I have seen all day. We are hoping to make Jays but is still up in the air.
Sweet! I'll bring my banjo. I don't know how to play it yet because I just bought it last week , but maybe someone will .
