My "first girl friend" is pictured in my avatar. my dad purchased it from the original owner in February 1968. The price $350 ! It still runs the original flat head six he used to "learn you about engines" back in 1974. The compression is still within 10 lbs. difference in each cylinder and idle so low you can almost count the revs by eyeball. I will never sell it.
I relate, my first car was a model A coupe. 1956, paid 100 bucks with odd job money. First day i could drive it I just got in it and drove it. From Riverside up Cajon P*** to Palmdale. No problem, ??? wasnt smart enough to think of all the pitfalls, heck its a car thats what it was sposed to do. It did get a little hot, as evident by the A temp gauge, [steam from radiator cap]. It took awhile to make the grade as I had to use second gear, them truckers were sure glad to see my old Ford as evident by all the honking and waving !! [and finger pointing] I miss my old A they are a good car

I can surely relate. I served in the Navy 4 yrs as a combat corpsman stationed with a bunch crazy Marines. When I got out the first thing I did was get back into cars. I'm building some memories for my boys with a 31' sedan and a 27' T roadster. There's just something about these things... once they get into the bloodstream it's all over...
I recently read the story about it in Hagerty's magaine....cool to see the video! Those stories are great.
