History Keith Black Racing Engines... For Sale !!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by NITROFC, Oct 3, 2008.

  1. I hear yah! As far as I'm concerned, ALL racing that runs piston driven engines, transmissions and rears is good for hotrodding in general. The volume of parts these boys buy helps support the whole industry - which makes parts cheaper for us. If it was just hotrodders supporting the after market mfg industry, we'd have FAR less parts . . . new and used . . . that we could afford. (I know - Nascar isn't helping me with 392 Hemi parts or flathead cranks . . . but other things, yes).

Also, there are tons of used parts coming from the Nascar boys that are totally cheap for us to use --> I buy used Nascar titanium valves and am cutting them down for flathead use. I just purchsed a set of used Jesel keyway lifters for about $100 - that I may use in a roller-cammed flathead (these things cost over $1500 new). Also, the technology that comes out of Nascar and every other form of racing improves the materials that even us hotrodders use.

    Is Nascar my gig, nope . . . never even been to a race . . .

That 7.35 would hold ground during the early years of pro-comp-73/74. Even the Gene Adams/Steve Wiecke KB powered A/FC Satellite didnt quite match those numbers. I was always a big fan of the injected funnies, be they gas, alky or nitro fed.

Yeah Holly Hedrich, more than just a "hot rodder," he was a drag racer way back and over the years was involved with Schiefer clutches, Petersen Publishing (publisher of Hot Rod in the 70s) and lots of other gigs, including ad agency work and SCI / Autobuff magazines. I can't even begin to tell you all the hours spent with that guy and the stories he had, unbelievable. He was the real deal, knew lots about nitro racing and helped put the deal together for the Larry Minor / Miller Brewing program.
