You have to look closely in this pick, but there is an offset breather on this flatty. It looks to be a cast pc. Who/what/where made these- if it isn't a one off by Tardell......... I need something like this... Any other ideas or companys that made something similar?
IF the dim shiny spot is what I think, it has to be a welded construction with sharp 90 degree turns to clear the junction box there. The onliest manufactured types I know of are: 1. Regular '35-48 2. Real tall similar from 1934 (uses same pipe as '32-3 attached to cast pump stand very similar to #1) 3. Aftermarket attachment with two bends made to make adding oil easier--these have crude rippled bends and look like ****. 4. Lincoln--replaces #1, steel pipe leans over about 45 degrees in a smooth bend. Traditional hotrod part, hard to find. I think one in pic has to be a cut and weld.
To clarify about the casting--the shiny aluminum part IS a casting, the normal '35-48 fuelpump stand. A short straight sheetmetal pipe topped with a breather cap normally protrudes from this. I believe he simply cut off the pipe at a 45 degree angle, went over sidways with more tubing, then up to normal breather.
"tardell's son" is Keith and he is accomplished enough to get out of that shadow. And Bruce speaks the truth!
from the pic it seems to be welded right where it breaks into the sharp bend.. i guess it's a fabricated piece.. as far as kieth goes, i saw c-dan this guy built on ebay a few months back.. it was *****in.. and went for some heavy coin..
I thought about cutting one but his connecting tube looks flatter.....I'm not that skilled with a hammer....... I've seen them have a 45 on both ends and just use a nice pc of exhaust tubing.....but I like how this one looks flattened.....hmmm You're right Ryan. I started to edit my original post and say, "that would be a HARD shawdow to live in, but he has done a great job!".......yes, he's quite a builder.......
