Got my copy of TRJ in the mail today. Took off the wrapper and I was so gratified to see Master Kennedy's grey A-coupe with such a favorable description of the car AND Kirby's ethic. Congratulations; well deserved!

I have 2 questions for Kennedy after reading TRJ article:

How much of the work did you actually do? (TRJ mentions a lot of names of other people doing a lot of the work)

I question TRJ mention: that you have only $10,000-12,000 into the car...... how is that possible? Were you given parts and labor on some items for free??

Other than that...the car is great!!!, it was my favorite car that the Nationals to see. My brother started his first Model A hot rod at age 13 and its great to see young people still at it.

    Very nice, congrats.

  6. TRJ mentions a FEW names of other people doing SOME of the work.... and while they were doing it, so was Kennedy, right beside them. Chassis, paint, interior.... all of it. Anyone who has met him isn't surprised to see, in print, that Kennedy has enough class to recognize those who helped.

As for the budget.... look closely at the car. Where did he spend big $$? He started with a roached body, built his own chassis, used a some early Ford parts that were just lying around, got the leather for his seats off Ebay, & bought a few items off the shelf.

This isn't rocket science & it doesn't take a bucket full of $$ to play. Attention to detail & a little paint goes along way. :D

The car rocks. I got to see it first hand at Knoxville and it is worthy of all of the attention it is getting..

The latest issue of R.J. has the worst cover ever!

The kennedy coupe or Jimmy Vaughans car should made the cover.

    Agreed.
Jimmy's on one side and Pratt's on ta'other....

Kirby, unreal, that car is perfection.

OT, but the profile shot (big 2 pager) in TRJ where the coupe is backed by a clearing amongst old buildings and vines etc.. Gorgeous location. I think I need to visit this area of the country.

Another person they didn't mention in the article is Harrison. When Coonan asked about a place to shoot it at Harrison new where to go. So I got to thank him for that. He also got to drive the chase vehicle for Coonan.

And yes I did do all the work only time I didn't was when someone was showing me how to do something I didn't know how to do.

My girl and I both agreed the action shots are the best in TRJ. I can't say much different than what has already been said other than you built a spot-on, perfect coupe. Congrats to you sir, I am in awe.

Well deserved credit for a great hot rod. I can't wait to see what you'll build next. Isn't it fun?

So did ya drive it to your senior prom? I take it you found a date since I didn't get a call? ;)

you know what I love about that car it really does a good job matching the older post WW II styles with the wheels and paint, both the body color and the black accents and adding an OHV engine it without looking too 60's if that make sense.

Thats exactly what my goal was. I wanted to build a hot rod like someone would have before the war and then in 1956 the owner got his hands on a recked 56 Thunderbird. The reason for a 56 Thunderbird? Because, it would have been 12 volt;) If that makes any sense.:)

  20. I wish people out here (australia) would build cars as nice as yours (they're few and far between). My fav car in TRJ for years. Congrats.

  21. I was just catching up on some reading (about 2 issues of TRJ behind at the moment!) and spotted the feature on this very nice A coupe. Read the first few paragraphs and it mentioned the HAMB (Viva La HAMB) and thought I'd come and see if he was for real. ;)

That's a VERY nice car, mate. You and your family should be very proud. Great story too, especially the bit about the Harbor Grey paint.

  22. one good loking car-good job
