Kickdown cable was lifted a little on the inside, bolt was only finger tight. Is there a boot or o-ring that goes in or would I be ok to put the bolt back in and tighten down correctly to see if it stops leaking? I just put a new trans pan on and didn't want to pull it off if I don't have to!

    Thanks, Kerwin

There is a rubber boot that goes in the hole first.

Some cables have an o-ring the older ones, all the later cables use a boot for a seal. If yours has an o-ring I would buy the later cable with the boot seal and fix the leak that way. The boot seal works much better.

If the bolt was loose the obvious thing to do is tighten it up first. Then see if it still leaks if you do have to replace the seal removeing the pan is not necessary.

Yup...remove bolt. Pull cable housing outta case to where you can see detent . Grab detent wire with needle nose. Remove cable end from detent wire. Then replace oring/boot and reinstall. It's easier than trying to explain. Oh yeah and make sure plastic flange where bolt goes thru isn't cracked. If so you'll have to replace entire cable.

thanks for all the replies, I am going to put the bolt back on and see if that helps for the time being but plan on replacing the boot
