I thought I'd share how I did the kick up on my A frame. I didn't want to use box tube.. and I had 2 rear sections of a '36 frame in the shop.. so here's what I did: after the frame was all braced up on the table I cut the A frame at a rough 45, making sure to cut both sides the same so i could reference points later.. I also cut a rough section out of the 36 rails: I'm moving the rear crossmember up about 8 " and back 7.5 inches so I can put the spring behind the rear axle with the '36 rear rods. Next I made a cardboard template of the 36 sections and held it up to the A frame to find the angles of intersection: cut and weld. the top and bottom plates were a little tricky, I just cut them at a generous angle and grinded them to fit. I thing I need some more structure in the insides of the 36 sections, they are a bit lighter gauge than the model A, and I'm going to box the whole thing. thanks to zach (zach) for all his help getting everything in place.
That looks fantastic, and the diagrams were a nice touch, end result looks great and you should be grinning ear to ear
well, that's my mockup engine, but the real one is the same. thanks guys, it really feels good to finally be getting somewhere with my project. I'll be posting more soon.
looks good.. hell i would of used the 36 rear with the a cross member.it would lower the shit out that thing.. very cool..
yeah, i do still have the crossmember, but I sold the spring and rearend to seymour.. the rear rods I actually bought after selling off my first pair
When that happens to me I get all of them to sing the same song,It's more entertaining than annoying. That kick up has class, way cool Nate.
