One of his other friends dropped it off at his house and said that he bought the truck it came out of in Seattle and cruised back at highway speeds with no problems except a lot of oil leaks.

And this wall hanger for 30.00 at a local wrecking yard a few years ago.

I should have a second one of those out in the shed somewhere if I can find it. Paid 5 for that one about 15 years ago.

Years ago, '53 Ford Hardtop for $10, '47 Ford coupe for $75 and later a '63 Falcon Futura for $50. Traded the Falcon for a nearly rust free '47 Plymouth sedan and then traded it for a Model A pick-up. Ended up selling the A for $900. This was all back in the 70s.
More recently, a flathead Mopar engine and trans, '40 front axle and bones, Model A springs and a complete Frankland QC rear end. All free. I've since got a fresh crank and pistons for the flattie, also free.

My grandparents gave me their '63 Chevy II (with the six). It was parked at my mom's lake house for a few years and I never got around to doing anything with it.

My mom sold it for $60 to get it out of the yard.

  9. Found this 60's vintage Henry J Tilt frontend sitting in a guys frontyard. He was going to cutout the factory molded teardrop scoop to put on a ,62 Galaxie. I gave him $50. He said he could get a teardrop scoop for $45 plus tax.

Picked up a set of 63 vette hubcaps at a flea market for $15 sold at carlisle for $90. At a rod run I purchased a T bucket Walker Radiator and Sanderson chrome headers for the same t bucket for $100 and sold them the next day for $275.

  13. Got a '64 Riviera from one of my dad's buddies, had $1500 (asking price) in cash when I went to pick it up...he told me to keep the cash and handed me the keys...

That's my all time best score...

  14. 2nnd best was a complete '58 short step F-100 that I bought for $50 and parted out!

Some of these deals just astound me...

My best ever was a car trailer and T5 trans that I paid $300 for, and then two weeks later I sold the Trans for $350. The free trailer allowed me to haul a lot more good stuff home than I ever could have before.

Got a 32 ford sedan body last yeart for free. Sold it to fund some other projects. Wished like hell I would have kept

  18. Minorly damaged 32 wide beam axle with some garbage welded to it, $25.00
A couple of hours in the shop with a 100 ton press, some grinding, good. Oh, it was dropped by somebody, not as nice as some work I've seen, but I ain't bitchin' about it.
57 Ford car rearend, traded a $100 trailer axle for it, he needed to fix his boat trailer.
28 spline posi in a '70's 9" diff, mud and water wasted ring and pinion set, $50. Rebuilt the Trac Lock to put into the 57 Ford car rearend for my 29 Tudor project. The remainder will probably be put together with a standard diff, used 2.75 gears for an optional long haul 9" chunk.

I bought a '32 Ford 5 window, no fenders or floor or firewall for $75. But that was in '65. Oh then there was the 34 three window, full fendered, no rust, hood gone and engine stuck for $50. But that was '58. Oh yeah and the '38 Chevy sedan for $15. Why didn't I keep this stuff?

I got a Ford 9" for free, and a Chevy 250 with a TH350 for $75. And I picked up some repopped WWII Jeep seats for $100, brand new.

  24. A 85' Caprice with a brand new GM Goodwrench SBC, a recently rebuilt TH700R4, and nearly new michelins on it. It even had a full set of aftermarket guages, a 3.23 posi 8.5" 10 bolt, and a mint body. Carb was screwed so the old guy who owned it traded it in on a new car. Body was near mint, and the interior was mint - $300.

Sold it to a guy to use in a demo derby after taking the engine/trans, tires and guages out. I got $250 back for it.

Engine/trans, rims, and front tires are now on my 57' Poncho. Gets 27mpg and runs perfect after a carb rebuild.

    Best $50 I ever spent.

1952 Ford Customline two door sedan. Got it for free when my ex wife split (she'd lost interest in it), so that was an added bonus. :D:D:D
