metric/ modern tire sizes im not much on. i have a superduty ford roll back and i had to change a couple tires on the back. 235/85-16 load range E which is the size the factory spec'ed. i had some used ones that are the same size and load range as what i took off, but the side walls are rubbing . tire psi is correct and the truck is not over the GVW. anyone know of a better size that will meet the same DOT spec's? and not rub. i didnt get much help from the local tire experts other then the same size and a price
Google the company of the original tires, and on their site find your old tires, or as close as you can in a newer tire if the ones you were using have been superseded. Then click on specs and look for cross section width ( pay attention also to rim width. Make a note of this cross section width, tc. Then do a search for the same on the tires you installed, and I'll bet that the newer ones are wider. If I'm right, then you gotta search around for replacements with the correct section width. Not sure about truck tires being on Tire Rack.com, but if they are there, you may be able to find all info @ one source. Dave
Yeah had this happen before. Had 225-50-16 (Stock size) Michelin Pilots on my OT 88 M5, they rubbed. The Pirellis that replaced em don't rub.
