I understand what you mean, Nate. I get sentimentally attached to anything I drive for a while. This was true even before I could drive. I cried when my parents sold our '78 Fiesta - funny now, but it wasn't then. I hated the '86 Jimmy I drove in high school (especially its Fat Hack Special (TM) 2.8L V6) but I keep trying to think up ways to use its pieces in future projects just to "keep it alive" so-to-speak.

Do good with that Comet, man.

LMFAO. Maybe it saw its reflection in a window and drove off a cliff.

The first vehicle I ever owned AND drove (my first car hasn't run in 30 years and who knows when it will [IMG]) was a really*****py '78 Dodge longbed with a slant six 4-speed, that I got for $300. The MANUAL steering was insanely loose, I couldn't see out the back thanks to the topper, it did 0-60 in like 2 minutes, it was deafeningly loud at highway speeds, the windshield leaked all over the steering column in the rain, the driver's side window would just fall down and wouldn't roll up properly, I had brake lines blow out 2 seperate times in like 3 months, it barely started and it dieseled when I shut it off, and then on top of it all the heater fan seized up so I had no heat. But god I miss driving it...

The good part is that I "sold" it to my dad, so that he could sell it for me. It's still sitting there, and I could get it back if I wanted to. I think I might just do that, parts for it are insanely cheap [IMG]

Sorry to hear that nate, looks like it was something fun to play with, even though it wasn't old steel.

  22. Bought this toyo van for $900 last fall when I put my wagon away for the winter. About a month later I watched from my window as a RUN AWAY milktruck careened down my inner city street and WHAM took out my car that was parallel parked on the street. It was smashed good on the pass side and the drivers side took a good hit on a street sign. I drove it like that for another 10 mos until one day it started to run bad so I settled up with the insurace co. They paid me out $2300 in Nov and with the $1400 profit from the deal I bought my A rpu.
