I got to meet one of the nicest guys ever this weekend. Hamb'er bigbadcad sold me a '58 Cadillac 365 with trans. It came out of a real "little old lady car only driven to church on Sundays" car. She had just had it rebuilt when he bought the car and ended up swapping for a more modern engine for cross country trips. He's got a killer shop doing really nice work. I got to see an in progress '58 Cad and a cool stocker '38 La Salle among other things. Thanks Brad for the painless transaction! You are real class and I appreciate it!!

This engine and trans has right at 3,500 miles on a fresh rebuild. My buddy and fellow Iron Lord JeremyJames went down to GA with me to get it. We pulled the valve cover and everything is like brand new. It was a long day of driving (thanks Jeremy!) but well worth it! When we got back to Iron Lords Headquarters, we just couldn't stand it and got it fired up on the hoist for a couple of seconds. Boy does it sound nice!!! It looks nasty, but its clean, just covered in some bondo dust.

So now I've got my work cut out for me and I do mean work! I've got to get this engine cleaned and degreased, pull some parts off in preperation for paint, then paint it. Then I've got to get my firewall and inner fenders prepped for paint then painted. Then I'll have to do the swap.

I couldn't do any of this without my fellow club members, who are more importantly my friends! Each and every one of you guys are RAD!!!

This is where the magic happens when I'm not at Iron Lords headquarters...

Nice dude that looks like a hell of an engine!!! I can't wait to see it nestled down in between those frame rails and giving 'em a nice tweaking!!!

I also like your carolina creeper aka floor mat. You and Jeremy will probably will have your Cad engines running before I have mine going. I'm falling behind!!!

  3. Are you going to paint it purpleish-pink???

So stoked for you. Let me know where I can help.

Its very fresh. You should've heard it. It spit fire. Don't sell yourself short! You're soooo close to driving that thing!! You might be driving before I get this swap done, haha!

No, JJ's right. Pink pink with lots of pearl. And thanks!

    Thanks Ed!!

    Comin' up slammin' Cadillac doors.

You're right about that! Yours is an inspiration. Love the sound with the Porters! And it looks so right!!

And yes, pink. Dupont Pink Passion base with lots of pearl.

Early Cuyler once said "passion is for smashin'!!!". Pink is the new white. And like Boobie said, "Its all about the pink".

You are a wild and crazy guy and I love the caddy. Run an oil cooler.

  16. Another Iron Lord scores again!!

Kinda makes me wish I were a Lord - except for the affinity for pink - and the latent homosexual tendancies!

Hey JJ, tired of walking yet - I'll make ya a great deal on the ultimate family cruiser. ;)

    Thanks!

Hahaha!!! That's funny!!! :D I'm tickled titty pink pearl!

Thanks bud! Come on down any old time!!

Thanks! And thanks for the tip.

I see nothing wrong with loving pink. Some of my favorite things are pink. Like panties. Hell, I'm wearing some now. But where all this gay talk comes from I have no idea??

Thanks! The steering wheel is Odsmobile. Its going in but I need to shorten my column first.

Soon, very very soon. Do we know any stripers who can paint care bears? And thanks!!

SO Terd you're going to run a Automatic behind that? Del was telling me something about having to machine the crank for a pilot bearing?

Yes, I'm going to just go with the auto that's already behind it. :eek:I don't know if Del mentioned it or if I told you, but I got the trans that came with the engine too. As much as I like manual shifting, it takes more than an act of congress to put one behind a 365 or 390. Its just a ton of work and even more money to make that happen when I've already got a fresh auto and another for backup, haha!

I know you gonna love it. as soon as i get the 58 rolling i'm gonna plan a drive up to hang out with yall. Still trying to dig up a breather for you I'll see what I can find. I couldn't help but laugh when y'all drove off and the truck was dumping out all that oil!! that''s what I call die hard brother!!

    Thanks Grumpy!

So I've got my engine down to metal and pretty much ready to paint. I'm nervous, but I can't wait to see how its going to turn out. The first version of the Lil Nugget truck has been on my mind. It was a Larry Watson candy red paintjob with Eddie Martinez interior. I love the gold flake later version also, but the first version really trips my trigger.

I'm going to buy paint later today or tomorrow. I hope to be painting the engine this weekend!
