Taking apart my 40 front and the passenger side king pin has a lip worn from the retaining bolt. This is my first project and need some advice. Drill or ream the retaining hole was my thought. What size do you recommend? Thanks
You can't really go oversize or the end of the retainer bolt will not end up flush with the axle. It won't just clean up with a round file enough to get the bolt in? Its a wedge so to speak, doesn't have to fit perfect
Looks like it has had the wrong bolt fitted. It should be a wedge type. If you open the hole it could make it worse
Don’t worry about it. When you smack the locking pin in with a hammer it will go right through that schmutz. Do not try to pull the pin through with the nut on the back.
Trying to knock king pin out to replace and the lip is catching and not allowing the king pin to slide out.
I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a king pin that didn’t require some 5 pound persuasion from below. Many require much more.
