Has anyone tried to buy a kingpin set lately? My supplier, who's usually pretty good is telling me they can't find the busshings. They have an incomplete set waiting to send me when the bushings arrive. Are they bullshitting me or what?

    Ragtop,
What brand are they trying to get for you?

  3. I just bought a N.O.S. set of '36 Ford kingpins, bushings, etc. on eBay...$10.50. The guy was slow shipping them so he sent 2 sets.

  4. i haven't heard of any shortage of king pins because of the lack of bushings , but i do have some extra ones i could send you to get you out of a bind

  5. Bushings are a fairly common item.
If you have a sample you may be able to find a set at a bearing house.

SJ, if you happen to find a part #/manufacturer for those bushings, could you let me know?

I have three NOS sets, ALL THREE of them are short the bushings.

(you have to wonder if machine shops screwed up bushings on the first fitting pass, and stole them from other sets)

  7. i screwd one up a bushing a long time ago and had trouble getting just a replacment single ...so,i bought a bunch of them from Synder's Antique Auto Parts ,they have them in their catalog.... the bushings are the same from 28-48..let me know if you need some

synder's part number is : a-3111-b and are $1.40 each..here is their website:

36, will send you a PM.
    Thanks for the info.

  9. Dave....I swapped the extra set for the axle. That leaves me with only the parts I'll be using. It appears that you have it under control in any case,

Will "kill two birds with one stone."

36, was just about to send you a PM, but I happened to pull a catalog for one of the antique dealers here in Alberta, and the part number you supplied shows up. (meaning I can buy just the bushings from them.) So thanks for the offer, but it will be easier to get them locally.

SJ, this was a helpful thread, both of us solved our problems.

    Thanks everyone!

Not sure of the brand, but I was trying to get the ones with the stainless cap on top of the pins - no needle bearings though, just the cap.

Digger, can you pm me with the numbers for the bushings, and the contact info. I sold my house and need to get my 34 chassis rolling with the body bolted down before I close the deal on this house - looks like I'll be renting and storing my stuff for a while til I find a place and get a shop set up. Bummer, but they made me an offer I couldn't refuse.. I'll tell PH to send what he's got. I could probably get the bushings shipped here pretty quick from Alberta EH?
