i need a new set of kin pins for my 56.
who makes all these new suspension parts anyway? like is there a brand that makes them for the vendors, and are they U.S made?good quality all that crap?
im wondering if it would be wise to buy new suspension parts from the parts places or is it better to pick up individual nors peices as i find them.im in no rush.
    thanks,
    eric

Erdy, I know you are good at finding out what is available at places like NAPA and Nat'l Parts Online. But if they don't have what you need, then you can always try Rare Parts.

I think I have a king pin bushing reamer for the Olds.

Oh yes, you can also try scouring eBay for Thompson bushings and try to luck out an some Olds ones. I think I have seen some there in the past for cheap, and no one ever buys them. I guess they like sloppy steering.

  4. I bought stuff from these guys and got the parts in a timely fashion, and the rep I talked to on the phone was pretty knowledgeable. Its worth checking out... Kanter Auto Parts

    thanks guys,
i was mostly wondering about the quality of the stuff from kanter, others.like who makes it.does it just come in a brown paper bag?i dont mind spending the money.iit's just almost every new part i buy lately is junk.for example i bought wheel cylinder kits for my car the other day.one box had been on the shelf for awhile.the other a new one.the new one had inpoerted parts that where junk.the seals where paper thin.the rubber on the old one was thick, and nice, and the spring was a better desighn.this is not a rant.just looking for the best way.let me know your experiances.how was the bearing quality.where they u.s. made, etc.thanks,
    eric

i bought a front end rebuid kit from Kanter after i had already replaced the kingpins with NOS parts (it helped a little, but everything else was just plumb wore out) the new ones look the same as the old ones to me-george
