Latest new guy here, although at 44 I don't feel very new...My name is John, I'm down in south Georgia, where I stayed after a 6 year hitch in the Navy, where I was a pipe welder. Been messing with all kinds of cars for a long time, drag, street, circle track. Have built and raced them all on a very low budget. My first "old" car was a '56 Chevy 4 door that we bought for like $700 with no drivetrain, sitting in a field. Dropped in a 305/4spd out of an old dirt tracker, painted it flat black, and put a $20 set of swap meet Moon discs on it, and was driving it for about $1000. Just sold it at the Turkey run, where I caught the "rat rod " bug. I picked up the front half and frame of a '28 tudor, and the back section of a 4-door. The plan is to weld it all together into a tudor, using everything I've got plus some patch panels, and then chop it a bunch. I have a complete pinto front end that I'm planning on using, if it will work with the fenders. My vision is to keep the fenders and running boards, but still have it sitting really low. It will definately be Chevy powered. This is somewhat of a back burner project, as I'm just getting started racing a 360 sprint car. I will be looking for suggestions and advice periodically, hope you guys can help... Thanks, John
Several current and past sprint folks on the board. Are you racing with the Tampa club or the atlanta group?? How far from Warner Robins?? Welcome .... Bobby...
Thanks for the "Welcomes". Kingsland is in the very S.E. corner of Ga., just north of Jacksonville, Fl. I'm racing with the Florida Sprint Car Association www.fscaracing.com, they are based in Jax. They are "limited" sprints with flat-top iron head motors, injected on alky. Lotsa fun... Later, John
