This is about giving credit where credit is due.
On my build thread when I painted my Willy’s a few years ago I chose Kirker Flame Red acrylic enamel. ( KS -51429). There were some issues but let’s be clear they were my mistakes. I got ahold of a tech /sales guy named Matt Panuska. And could not have asked for anyone better. ( 1-845-562-5666) I learned that some sealers /primers have changed and my old dog must learn new tricks.
I wound up clearing it to save what I had done but again let’s be clear it was MY MISTAKE.
So as you all know I am now painting the Prefect /Anglia. And I wanted to use the same paint etc. Well about two years ago almost everyone killed real acrylic enamel. ( not the poly acrylic ). I had about 3 qrts left. A better painter could have Probably pulled it off but not and at least with one coat on door Jams inner window edges etc. I am not looking for a perfect silk job. This isn’t House of Colors and I am not any of the great painters of the day. It is after all a race car that hopefully will get used.
So I start looking again about a month ago.
    Noda.
So I reached out to Matt again. Not only did he answer and tell me that as of late Kirker had restocked the true acrylic enamel in traditional. Red/white /black/blue etc. upon looking he said that they were actually out of my color. KS -51429. Matt called Pittsburgh Discount Body Wholesale Supply /and got them to drop ship to me two gallons for 110$ a gallon. That is called Service. And that is why I will go back when I order my other color ideas I have. I need to give Pittsburgh Discount Body a shout out to. Just a thought the next time you are spending your hard earned money. The cheapest I had anyone for a mix up to match what I had was 248$ A GALLON.
I thought it only right to give credit and a good word for both. They are good people.

I've used Kirker paints on several projects with good results. The price is certainly right, it's MUCH better than shooting a car that one cares about with tractor enamel.

So glad to hear someone who not only admits their own limitations and mistakes, but to also hear about a company (2 in this case) who is able to get what the customer needs and at a great price!
The customer isn't always right, but when they can be supplied with the desired product and the company also comes out well, everybody is happy!
Best of luck on the shooting, and we will want to see the results.

That seems like a VERY reasonable price for a gallon of paint, especially red. And excellent customer service to boot. Good luck on the paint job.

Great paint jobs going for 20 to 30k, this is why this makes a LOT of sense. If I can do it a caveman can do it

  9. Painted an OT truck with Kirker base/clear bought from I think Pittsburgh Discount. Used a HF purple gun. Came out really good for a driveway paint job. The base paint was their Diamond(?) line I bought at Louisville street rod nationals. Total cost for 1 gal primer, 1 gal base, 1 gal clear, and associated hardeners was right about $300 total. Can't beat that. No idea on long term durability, sold truck after 1 year.

  10. I’d shoot that stuff

The Willy’s still needs a Final Cut and buff on the clear but I had about 300$ in it material wise.
I am hoping to do a little better because I have no intention of clearing it even though I have a gallon of clear and activator/hardener left over from Willy’s.
My theory is also that the Prefect is much smaller than the Willy’s. So if I can get enough paint on it and not have a major uh oh I’ll be able to cut and buff and not have to clear.
Also considering a different color on the fenders. Maybe a Gold metallic on fenders and the rain gutter. Just thinking out loud.
