here's a shot of some of the parts I'm gettin ready to throw together for a little fun...gotta cut the rusty top off and shorten the frame to about half of what it is now.
The track nose is off a real racecar..handformed aluminum...some guy bought it in SanDiego at a swap meet 20 years ago and traded it to me for some work...pretty cool piece

38-39 ford, eh? Yeah, those make great RPU's. Are you planning on narrowing the body and frame? Flyin J is making up a killer lakes-modified, using one of those frames, narrowed, shortened and pinched. The huge rear kickup looks killer! I gotta tell ya, I've been giving serious thought to removing the top from my 36 chevy pickup project. Keep us up to date, Brew...

I had some guys over last night and we mocked it up...the track nose is out...just not tall enough (it looks bitchen hangin on the wall though) the frame will be cut off just behind the cab and I will be running 1/4 eliptics with either wishbones or hairpins. Up front I bought a set of the new posies 1/4 E with brackets...I think I will be using a 32 commercial grille with the axle out front. I need to pinch the frame a couple inches up front and cut the bottom 4 inches off the cab to get it to all line up.
The engine is a toyota 1600 hemi. with dual webers...definately a little different.
I'll show some progress pics when I start making some!

  6. Woah! Track nose is out?

It looks like you've got a pretty nice shop there and I gather you're a competent w/ the cut-off wheel.

Section the body until the nose looks right. Three inches out of the middle and four out of the top and it'd look cool as hell w/ that nose.

That one's no jewel either! I think it'd be fun to screw around with some wheeled patches and see if it's fixable just for fun before goin open-air though... There's holes in front, back and DS of the roof, cowl bottoms are gone, floor's shot, no solid glass, what's to loose?

The reason I decided to chop my GMC truck in the first place is because it was rusted out where the top panel overlapped the back panel. If you have rust in one section get another roof and use the best parts of both of them when you stretch one when you chop it.
