G'day , I thought I'd throw it out there, are there any Hamber's in Queenstown NZ? or if not is there any thing worth seeing car wise there? Cheers Glenn
One of I know in Wanaka,a good guy, roughly an hour from Queentown, maybe he will chime in. A new race complex not far from there in Cromwell,Highlands Motorsport park, they have a good museum there and lots to look at apparently. When are you going there?Pre 49s in Omarama next April I think. ****loads to see and do down there either way, good if you are an adrenelin junkie!
Just be prepared to spend money. Queenstown is the most expensive place in the Country to stay, eat and party.....There is a museum there which is worth a visit though....
And at this time of the year she's mighty cold down there - its a cold start to winter down under so pack your thermals
www.highlands.co.nz/museum/ Queenstown is only for ski bunnies and mad tourists this time of year. It's been -20 in further inland parts this week.
I havn't had any choice, I'm going for work, (so they are paying accom! ) I'll be there sunday, have monday off and @ work tues. will check out the Museum, would be nice to get to a show sometime,
There is a car museum in Wanaka, but in my opinion the best thing to see car wise in the South Island is the Richardson Truck Museum, in Invercargil, possibly also a tribute in a local shop, Invercargil, to Bert Monroe. Google the truck museum, if it is not yet officially opened to the public, you ring and make an appointment, and for $15 see 240 trucks, over 100 that are finished to show condition, and a hand ful of early Ford V8 cars ( ex Darwin collection ) plus a couple of hot rods. I could have spent 2 days in the museum. I spent a month working in Southland in November, Truck museum was the highlight!
