Good photos. Looks like it was a great day. Couldn't make it up this year, dammit!!

  5. That lolight Moggy Minor (I think for memory, unless he has changed it again) runs a twin turbo'ed V6 Chev. Does mid 11's! and has also been a daily driver to boot!
There was some interesting machinery there and it was great to see Karl Boniface do a 6.99 run @ 206mph in the Vega Funny.
Known as Nitro Flashback an awesome Nostalgia Funny Car.
Also Lez Herst fired up The Phoenix on Meth. then the second fire up he ran Nitro. This is gonna be an awesome flopper to see when she hits the track. A long time in the making and many hours of behind the scenes work from a truly dedicated crew (that pays for the privelege....) :D

  21. Yup, quite a cool FED! Not sure if they ran any nitro. Spoke to the chap briefly. The Donk came out of a ski/race boat from the '60's I think he said "Miss Coventry". A very humble guy as well.
It was a totally awesome day.
That Nitro really helps to clear your nasal passages! :D

  22. Great coverage! Felt like I was there, wish I was!

Yeah it was a great day. Took the camera but never got it out of the car. Too busy thrashing on brothers 409 FED.
    Next year.

Really ?!, that is one famous engine. look back through the early 70's NZHRM mags and you will find pics of it and a little history too.
and how fast Did Alfster run?

  26. I think FISH did a 15.5 on Saturday, blew the diff... and a 16.5 Sunday.
He is doing well and getting faster. I think he will be pleased when he no longer has to display an L plate.... ;)
Also notice the new wheels and tyres on the rear!

  27. I think one of the ad's in Hot Rod way back had that boat, I could be wrong... I will need to take a peek. Perhaps it also may have been on some of the yellow pages they used to run too.
As a kid, Dad and I watched a lot of boat racing at Karapiro, Hamilton was home then.
