Today's outing was interesting. Anyone ever have the lower shock mount come loose? Seems like a dumb design by Ford to have 2 slotted holes on the bottom mount.

One backed out so now I need to replace. The other remained. Both will be going back in with blue thread lock. Also need to replace the shock.

Yea, I had to replace one of the nuts that broke out of the control arm so not sure I would use Loctite. Although, blue would probably be ok.

The one that was still in had a star washer. The replacement will also get a star washer.

I emailed the tech support folks at KYB with my specs and the measurements of the shock at ride height and how much room I had before bump steer and they recommended I switch from the KG4503 to the KG5514. The 4503 was very near the full stroke at ride height and I suspect the shock was bottoming out before the car got bump steer so it was taking a beating. The 5514 will be a little shorter and near mid-stroke on the shock so hopefully I'll enjoy the ride a little more. Hope to have them in the car over the coming weekend.

Good call checking that. I do remember that I put shorter shocks on my car although honestly have no idea what they were now…

I replaced the shocks yesterday and man what a difference. I had no idea how worn out the old ones were. Also figured out what caused the bolt to back out. The nut on the lower A arm had broken loose. Not a ton of difference in length of the shocks between the old (longer) and the new but it is enough to make a huge difference. 20240719_112748.jpg

Decided to lay some scallops down on the driver side today. I'll add another along the top of the moulding later as it will tie into the hood. I need to get the matching passenger side laid down first.

Passenger side painted and a few overall pics. Now to decide on hood/ front fender layout and then onto the trunk.

Looks good. The scallops really enhance the original lines well.

Took the Kustomline to a local show on Saturday to support the homeless vets in my county.
Here are the few, that were there, that fit this group.
