Yes, one near the steering column and one near the glovebox. Once the blue carpet goes down it will help tone some of the brightness down

I wound up cutting the shroud from around the leads and the soldering some short leads to the posts. It doesn't matter which one you pick for ground. 20230807_203947.jpg

    Good find TCoupeKyle.
My replacement dome light arrived yesterday and was in MUCH better shape than my original. I cleaned up the chrome and took a chance that the switch was good in the light and instead of testing the switch first - I hung it up. Sure enough, the switch is bad (or needs to be cleaned) the light stays on with the doors closed and the switch in either position. So down comes the light this afternoon to figure out what is going on.

Semi - update. Part of the issue was in fact the switch. I cleaned the switch and tested for continuity before reinstalling (No continuity in off position and continuity in on position). However, something still isn't correct with the wiring diagram I made.
Much like soldering is TCoupes nemesis, that is how I feel about electricity.
Currently I have everything hooked up like my diagram shows EXCEPT, I had to unplug the black wire to the dome light in order to get it to work like below.
    • Either door open - all lights come on
    • Both doors closed - all lights go off
    • Either door open - dome light switch turns the dome light off while under dash lights stay on
    • Both doors closed - dome light switch does nothing
Anyone have any insight into what I need to change in order to get all lights working through the dome light with the doors closed?

Not sure why, but swapping the Black/Blue wire and Green/Yellow wire from the dome light into the junction under the dash fixed the issue. I've tripled checked all of my wires and they don't change colors anywhere along the way.
All lights now work when either door opens, or all doors closed and the switch to the On position. All lights go off with all doors closed. Case closed on this little project.

Good job. Now make sure you remember what you did so you can tell the rest of us when we run into a wiring problem.
You wired it, it works, you are now an electrician.

I guess if we are going to have lights shining in the floor, I need to add some kick panels. Dark blue carpet and some scuff plates are all that are missing for the floors. Headliner and sunvisors are missing up top.

Thanks. They are FAR from professional but are good driver quality for now. Maybe one day I'll have kids off the payroll and can afford to get her painted and a better interior.

For some strange reason, this is the area of the build that I didn't take very many pictures. I believe there is a link the FAQ's to a youtube video for making no sew door panels . I basically followed those instructions. I found some white pleated vinyl that had the pleats pre-sewn (with foam backing) and made for a boat.
I started the door cards in cardboard so I could trim to fit and then transitioned them over to a cheap whiteboard material I found at one of the big box home improvement stores. The white board was cool because I could play with where I wanted the break between colors to be. Was also handy for grocery lists.

I started by placing the white pleated material on with spray adhesive and then used the back tacking strip recommended in the video for the blue. You essentially place the material upside down and then wrap it over the back tacking strip so that the show side is once again showing. I over did the amount of staples required. At the time I was nervous it was going to move.

I added some foam backing for the blue and then glued the blue down.

So like the video claims - there was absolutely no sewing involved in these panels. Just time and patience.

Long weekend coming which means time to make some long anticipated (by me), additions to the kustomline.

I just finished pulling the tape and I'm pretty happy with how it has turned out so far. Now that the tape is off I can see that my initial thought of adding an additional line over the driver and passenger are going to be needed as is some white pinstriping along the edges.

Looks great! I know how nerve wracking it can be to do custom paint at times. Years ago, I bought a black pickup that I was making payments on with the plans to lower it and add traditional flames. Anyway, when it came time to lay out the flames and actually do them, I figured it would either turn out great or I would ruin it. It turned out great and so did what you just did.:D

I went with the same blue ive sprayed on the rest of the car. It is Dupli-color's Metal Specks Ocean Blue (rattle can). Wound up using two cans for the roof and then applied five coats of Dupli-Color Gloss clear with an hvlp gun. All from the local parts store and shot in my driveway.

Thanks! Very nerve wracking! I figured the car will go to paint one day so this is all just temporary. At least mine was over primer and only on the roof. It took some cahones to spray flames over a painted truck.

Poor man's version of photoshop of the scallop I feel is needed over the driver. The center peak is optional and most likely not going to make it into the final design. I'll copy this and flip for the passenger. The outside edges of the scallop would follow the painted line and trail off to a point somewhere near the C pillar.

I wish! I'm struggling with getting these to slightly resemble scallops I have seen on other kustoms. I have no idea how those guys get such straight lines when laying down the tape.
