Trying to plan a trip to the roundup next spring. Easiest Route looks to be Hwy83 straight south. what is this road like? Cool sights? Small hotels? It will be a hard two days of driving, we will take it easy. It looks like I have a place in Austin to stay. What is the day to show up? Earlybird shit happening? Wanna see Flyrite, and see some Austin sites thurs? Thanks.
Don't know what the road is like, Kansas-wise there isn't too much, Liberal has a Wizard of Oz musuem I think, and an air musuem. The scenery is so-so, the fields won't be in that full gold color yet. That looks like a helluva drive ahead of ya. I'd like to head down in the 53 also, maybe you should swing over and go down through Ok City. Farmall
i'm on hwy 83! any one that wants to stop by is welcome. there is about 75 to 90 acres of cars to look at here. and a lot of stuff to see in childress tx. too. any one needing info can call or pm me. 800-798-2581
When you get to Texas swing a little east and pick up 281 south. Nice road and will take you through some good country. Several small towns good for gas and breaks. You can pick up 183 at Lampasas or go on down to 290 just outside of Johnson City on into Austin.
I don't know about 83, but if you want to drive a cool road with lots of history, you should take 81. 81 is kind of the north-south "route 66". It used to be called the Meridian or Pan American Highway, because it connected Canada, the US and Mexico. It was the main North-South corridor before they built 35. Tman, your more than welcome to stop by. We have a few new bikes that we will be finishing up as well as some new cars. If your staying all weekend, we are having an open house on sunday with bands and food. -Jason
Just in the planning stages. I am looking at leaving Tues or Wed and heading back Sun or Mon? With a new house starting this next year, this might be my only big trip. Also looking at the Hunnert Car Pileup with some guys from town. Carla has the money set aside for Texas however. Just gotta convince her that 2400 miles in April in an open car is no big deal Hell, that is blizzard season up here!
