For some reason not known to me they shut down my previous thread . So here we go again picking up from where we were but hopefully in the right category now . Ryan please let me know if I am not in the right area . According to the new guidelines I believe I am right where I am supposed to be . This is a traditionally styled kustom eventually that will have all the right stuff to look like something from the 50's early 60's , such as these examples . Frenched , nosed , decked, chopped , channeled , kustom body modifications galore . All that said have a look , I reshaped the front wheel opening and am starting to cleanup some of the door gaps and finish welding panel repairs.

You found me alright did ya Rod . I was going to send you the link but cant figure how to edit my signature ??? Yeah I like the absence of the portholes as well . It makes the front appear even longer . That front fender is 5 feet long . Stay tuned , Andy

Thanks Timelord . I see you are partial as well ! The picture of your Buick in the garage is cool . I see you removed the gaurds from the bumper . It cleans up the front . I like !! Andy.

Yes I am here guys , thanks for following along . My other thread offened or fell out of the HAMB criteria somewhere along the lines . This new HAMB now defines where one should be in the whole scheme of things . Thanks again and be watching for updates from time to time . Andy..

Wow, Andy...the work you've done so far is amazing. About as amazing as what your and my mutual buddy Steve (koolkemp) has done on his Ford. Just an unbelievable amount of work in both cars. Funny thing...I've owned both a '51 Buick Roadmaster 2dr hardtop and a '46 Ford business coupe. Both of them were original, complete and running cars, and I drove both as daily drivers for years. Both had some rust issues, but neither one was too awfully bad. I sold the Buick about 10 years ago for $2,500 and the Ford about 3 years ago for $3,000. When I view either your or Steve's threads, and thinking of all the work you both have put into your cars to get them to where they are now, I often think you guys are the ones I would like to have sold my cars to.

Sorry to see that your previous thread got closed. That's a little confusing. I think that maybe it should've been moved to this section instead...the "Traditionalish" section. I'm glad you've continued posting. Keep up the good work. All the best to you.

Thanks Ricky bop. I am sorry to hear of your monetary issues . Like you say on your public profile you will be back . Thanks for the encouraging words in regaurds to my build . I don't understand why my thread was killed and not moved to the current category that I am now in . I contacted Ryan 3 nights ago and there has been no responce from him on this . I said that I would edit the thread to remove the OT mentions . Guess he doesn't have time . Steve and I are in the same boat being that we have no option than to work with the rust that is so prevelant in our east coast AAAAHH! survivors ? and I do use that term very loosely LOL!! It is certainly a challenge to say the least but it has been a learning curve with a lot of metalwork how to do figured out !! Stay tuned , there will be more shortly !! PS I would have loved to have started out with something that was better than what I did but I surely doubt that the wife would have allowed an outlay of $3000.00 for a car . Its a nice thought though !! Maybe the next one !!!

OK brother, here's my take on what's happening. Your original thread is not gone, it is simply closed, meaning nobody can post to it, it is inactive. By all means, go ahead and edit out all references and photos of your OT ch***is and power train, then let a moderator know what you have done, and I predict it will get reopened.

I edited out all references to the OT power train and suspension from my thread . . . of course, nobody has tried to post to it since the forum changes were announced, so I still don't know for certain whether it will be closed or not. But, I predict it will remain open, because the offending OT stuff has been removed. Only problem with this theory is that I cannot edit out the OT responses to my original OT posts (sometimes an OT photo is quoted back to me, don't know how to get rid of that.)

See, Ryan has a big heart for all of these old cars, and he totally gets how being innovative and making do with what you have, such as slipping an S-10 under a '47 Ford, is at the heart of the whole hot rodding thing. But, he has no desire to throw out a net that big (the whole thing), rather he only wants to cover the arbitrary period that he has defined. You have to draw the line somewhere when defining traditional, and he has drawn it where he wants it . . . it's his show.

He will cut a lot of slack as long as the OT stuff is not mentioned. Want to mate a '51 Buick with an '89 Caprice ch***is? Fine, just don't say a ******* word about the Caprice, and do not show any pics of the ch***is. It really is that simple.

Here's a little secret that speaks volumes about what I'm talking about:
One of the coolest cars to be built in recent years is Royalshifter's (actually Ladyshifter's) '51 Ford Victoria, The Royal Victoria. Skip's build thread "Victoria Secret" (http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=533063) is one of the more popular build threads the HAMB has seen over the past few years. Mark and Kelly hit this one out of the park, the car has won numerous awards, has gotten a lot of great press (including a TRJ feature), and has generated a ton of buzz in the custom car community, getting universal praise for absolutely nailing a period custom.

But here's the secret: the car sports a 1970 SBC, a 700 r4, a Granada rear end, and Fat Man front disc brakes. But you will not find a single reference to any of those OT things in Skip's thread. Why? Because he has been navigating these HAMB waters longer than you and me, and he's probably smarter than us. Well, he's definitely smarter than us. What he shows us in his thread is all period correct traditional, and what he doesn't show us . . . well, frankly, you don't miss what he doesn't show us, because there is plenty of cool traditional **** that he does show us.

"Victoria Secret" should be the model thread for HAMB build threads. Go ahead, put a Corvette TPI engine under the hood, just don't say anything about it and, by all means, do not show it. If anyone asks about the mill, simply say ;).

Oh, and another thing, can you imagine how many PM's Ryan must have received over the past couple of weeks? There is no way he could have time to address them all. He is very good about responding to PM's, he cares what you think, he's just got to be swamped right now. But, like I say, edit your original thread, let Royalshifter know you did (he's now a moderator), and you may get your answer.

I Pm'd Royal shifter and he referred me to Ryan . I am cool with the whole shut down . It kinda breaks the thread so people wont get to mired down in the whole build . It will be probably be at least another two years , possibly three . When I get a chance I will edit my previous post as well such as yourself . Thanks for the ideas that you posted. We will have to be smarter in this new HAMB . And yup I am sure mine isn't the only thread that he has to read and or respond to . Thanks Jimmy ,, Andy..
