I want to do a kustom flat paint job and then fog it with a lil bit darker color. I was wondering if kustom shop paint flatz is a single stage or do I have to do a clear. let me know if any one knows how to do it or what paint I should use...
Search ****on. Lots of threads about Hot Rod Flatz. Also there are some really good threads about basecoat and flat clear combos. I don't remember the ***le off-hand, but I remember there being a few. Also, do a ****ing intro! Can't you read???
Wow with the outburst. Easy killer. Hot Rod Flatz is single stage pre-flattened, and IMO not the best stuff on earth. I prefer a basecoat with a flattened clear instead. Much more choice of basecoats.
wow newbie's got a case of the internet bad *** blues.... lighten up francis... Your intro was no literary work... Just checking in and making my required intro. I'm from Georgia and I have a 1969 camaro and a 1957 Chevy truck. I'm currently a senior at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. And a Camaro, I hope that's a parts car for your '57...
Aww...I ruffled the feathers of an OG member because I do the same thing the others do. Nothing wrong with giving someone a tough time because they can't follow the first rule of the HAMB. It's ok, I don't like your choice in vehicle either. Now back to the subject of paint...
DAMN son, every post of yours Ive read in the past 2 days was crying about the search ****on on top of your telephone books. Are you really short? Just a hunch...
You must have missed the one where I revealed my height. Seriously though, height has nothing to do with it. Everyone else is well over 5'10 in my fam and they have the same award winning sarcasm/***hole at***ude I have. Just trying to pick up the slack where the other members aren't. There is an ignore ****on if it bothers you that much.
back on topic. you dont actually have to spray a clear coat over base to get it to be a flat. you can activate your base coat and it will last for quite a while. some guys will say that it will fade and lose colors. BS, that black ford truck for Socal speedshop, straight base coat. clarks old AD truck, just base coat. and most collision shops that have something like flat paint, for instance some bumpers on new cars, are normally sprayed with just base coat. actually looks better too.
the popular flat clear is the ppg 2060, ive used it once it layed out nice but it looked like a semi gloss finish, i really didnt like the look of it, but the customer loved it, still havent tried the hot rod flatz, im thinkin of just buyin a quart and spraying my roof just to try it out, its pretty inexpensive
this is a pic of my drag car I know its not old but it does get down!!!!flat black base clear!! not too flat but you can mix it a lot heavier than I did???you can actually use a quick detail and wipe this down with no-streaks!!!
Also, do a ****ing intro! Thanks I'll use the search function and find it. Oh and BTW, this is a cl***ic response from someone that has no idea how to answer the question and is trying to get his post count up. Maybe he's compensating for something?
See if this link helps... http://jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=206186 Also a link to Hot Rod Flatz.... http://www.tcpglobal.com/kustomshop/ksflatz.aspx I had just basecoat on a Chevelle and it lasted for about 2 years but it sat out in the weather!
