    Sorry Jim,

This post was not trying to blast Rod & Custom magazine. This is why the post is for the Best "K" Kustom of the year not custom.

If it will be the same date as Kustom Kemps of America's Spectacular in
Salina, then all of the Kool Kustom will be there. Drop by next year you'll be
    impressed.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Thanks for the kustom lesson and I agree with you 100% with the quality of
work. Do you have any more pictures of the '54 Chevy.

I don't know this for a fact, but the backlight on the 54 looks to me like it came from a 56-57 Chevy/Pontiac 4 dr hdtp. I happen to have one from a 57 Pontiac, and it looks like the same piece of glass.

Pretty sharp observation, looks like that would work.

Thanks Deadender60 for the suggestions I thought of the '57 Caddy but
I forgot about the De Soto I agree it should be on the list. Below are the pics. Thanks Dons Hot Rod Page.

Hey Mike that is one Evil looking Chevy. I've not seen pictures of this before.
Looking at the side profile is God sent.

    Happy Trails,

I took those Chev pics at the Asphalt Invitational show. Someone must know the details on the chop.

Those rear bumper pieces on that 57 Caddy are being used on a Merc that is supposed to debut at SEMA. That car might be a contender for Kustom of the year. I hear it has a Winfield fade paint job and some radical top restyling.

Kool Idea!! I can see the '57 Caddy rear bumper working on a Merc. I might
have to do some photo chop'n to give me a idea. A friend of mine is going to
SEMA this year, I'll be sure to have him take some pictures. Thanks for the heads up!!

  9. If thats the case then it would be hard to argue that Gary "Chopit" Fioto's Beatnik is the most radical and different custom of the year.

I agree that Mercs are plentiful but I still think if one is done right like the Mejia Merc they are still one of the most beautiful custom cars around hence the reason so many are customized and so few left stock. Custom is different from stock not neccesarrily different from everything else IMO. The idea is to improve the lines of the factory design not do work for the sake of being different.

But having said that I agree that it is definitely nice to see something really different for a change like the Kaiser.

That's a good looking Chebby, but I wish he'd spent a little more money at the plater's.

  14. I couldn't agree more! The lines on the bumper are really nice, but the paint hides 'em. The '54's nice, but I think there better candidates...Cole's '36 is one for sure.

I just got a PM and learned that is an Aiello chop with a stock backglass.

I would be proud to own either one but I like the wrap around back glass better.

Thanks Mike for the background on the chop top.

i dunno i am more partial to the shoebox rear window look as opposed to the wrap around, but if cole wanted to chop my car i would let him do whatever and not say a single word lol

yeah keiths car is my pic as well ,and think starlite rod and kustom should be comended on their atention to detail and fine work . I saw that car in bare metal and let me tell you , no cutting corners here .
Tons of work and planing went into that baby , there were times when I saw te car and said how the hell will that fit there . Or that will never work ( in my little brain ) , But starlite has a way of making it happen , And happen the right way !!!! .
