Actually 504640, you're close. I did remove the door handles in the illustration but my '57 did have the whitewalls, tube grille, the chrome dumps and was "nosed"...altho not by yesteryears' way of doing of it or even by today's standard way of doing it...a six cylinder 150 model '57 only had the word "Chevrolet" on the hood - no "V" emblem so there were no huge holes in the hood. I simply took green cloth type tape and put it on the back side of the hood. From 10 feet away, the holes literally disappeared...!!! Fooled a lot of people, my Dad included...!!!

And thanx for the compliment...I got into a lot of trouble with that car being I was only 16 when I got it...

"Twisty" passenger seat makes it easy for the girlies to jump in while driving backwards withe the passenger door open!

Nice trick! I might steal that idea! Even neater than the black tape on the inside headlights on my 63 Ford galaxy. I was trying to give the perception of running the forced air unit that the super stockers were running. As I review that obvious blunder at misrepresentation, I realize it must have been really tacky! I think you were cutting your self short by not declaring the 57 a custom, with the tube grill. Was the deck/rear of the car have any alteration. A custom needs balance: a little here, a little there. And were you runnin' the dumps with a 6? I have a real good, rebuilt, 57 283 with corvette valve covers and a 4 barrel I'd love to put into your illustrated example! Those dog dish, flagged, corvette hub caps would work well with the small block, emphasizing the go part of the show 'n go custom!

No, the trunk had no mods...and that '57 was certainly "show n' go" ... it had a stock 6 cylinder "Chevy" emblem on the trunk and yes, I ran the dumps with an early Corvette split manifold. Obviously you've never read about my '57 in my first book "Bangin' Gears & Bustin' Heads," (available electronically/Kindle on Amazon) even tho the car had a six, there weren't many cars (most of them V8's) in and around my Iowa home town that could beat it or stay with it in an illegal drag race. It was that quick...and the car carried a reputation for miles around.

Sure wish I still had that car, but my bro ended up with it after Dad built me a '59 Chevy to take to art school in 1963...it sat in front of our house one night and someone crashed into it...I think it was Halloween night too...!!!
