Features Kustoms blues? I need to see some kustoms....

I was surprised to see it! This is the '59 Impala that was from the Denver area built by Jack Kaufman. I found another picture of it from Japan a few years ago on the Mooneyes Japan website, but it was an encrypted photo so I couldn't save it.
I talked to Jack on a few occasions at car shows and cruise nights. I was always in love with "Chantilly Lace", and every time I saw it at a show I'd spend lots of time walking around the car over and over taking it all in. In the early 90s when he put the Impala up for sale I wanted to buy it very much, but back then $11,800 was a lot of money--it still is. As much as I tried I couldn't come up with the money. I was very disappointed to learn it was sold and ended up in Japan. Jack gave me a business card with his phone number, all the stats of the car and the price which I still have all these years later.

The dead giveaway on Jack's car were the unusual dual parking/turn signal lights in the front pan. The Japan '59 still has them, although they look to have been moved a little bit. It's good to see that it's still around, but I miss the cool pearl white paint, cruiser skirts, pink and white candy stripe tuck'n'roll and the leadsled stance.

I saw this '59 I believe at an Americruise event in Lincoln, Nebraska. I have pictures of it some where. I'll see if I can find them.... Kool thing is I'm friends with the guy on IG and never put the two cars together. That is so kool to see it is still running around.

 

Love this '41 Chevy..... Jamie Geesling started this years ago. Kool to see Jason Reed finished the coupe. Jamie would be thrilled to see it cruising around.
