Thanks! It's been a long process that, of course, isn't done yet. Hard to believe it's been 7 years since the last major go around. I've just been driving it, hating to take it back apart. But, last year it started running poorly and I thought it may have jumped time. I'm neck deep in a renovation on our lake house fixer upper, so it's sat. Had to move it around some the last few weeks and it seemed like it was running better, so I thought I'd actually drive it to work today to check it out. Didn't even make it down the driveway before a loud mechanical knock started inside the motor....which now I remember starting as I came in the driveway the last time I drove it. Certainly, I'm not going to get to that real soon, but I suspect another rapidly spiraling round of building coming on.....I'll find something bad in the motor, so rather than invest in the sbc, I'll think it's time to just put the Olds motor in, and if I'm messing with all that it may as well be time to replace the whole front cap with a a straight hood, etc with the front cap I already have on hand blasted and in epoxy ready to go, and.... LOL
