My old friends, and my old stomping grounds. My Dad and I rented the shop behind Busy Bee Transmissions for awhile during this time, Visited Arlen's shop many times. To the left of Arlen's was a great Mexican restaurant, to the right was a Winchell's doughnuts. Made plenty of 2am doughnut buys from Winchell's. Bay Fair Mall across the street. Dave Byers in the black 51, and Paul McKelly in the what appears to be still blue, later black, 41 Chevy. Paul passed away driving his black 49 Cadillac Fastback a few miles south of this location. Passed at the wheel, and rolled to the side of the street, against the curb. Dave disappeared from the face of the earth over 40 years ago, so he's probably gone too. Dave sold the 51 and I never saw it again, it was a very straight car, and always clean and immaculate, and I've heard rumors that the 41 is still around, and in hiding for years, for various reason.

 

My progress on my custom. It has been a lot of work, but very rewarding.

Wow, Ralph Schindel's crazy old '64 Chevy sled! Haven't seen it in years. Although I don't agree with the current builder's/owner's vision, it is good to see that it's still around.
