That was a factory option. First introduced in '54, the Skyliner plexigl*** insert quickly gained a reputation for broiling the inhabitants of the vehicle and by '57 was gone. 13,344 were sold in '54, dropping to 1,999 in '55 and a mere 603 in '56.

These were also available in the Mercury line as the Sun Valley but was only offered in '54/55 with similar but slightly lower sales numbers. Mercury dropped it for '56.
