^^ Is that real? If it is, I want to hear more. Almost looks like a really good rendering.

  2. It's from a video game (actually 2 different games).
"If you are a fan of Fallout 4’s apocalyptic cars and wish you could drive one around, you are about to get your chance. Bethesda and Turn 10 Studios have teamed back up to bring a new car to Forza 6, and it is the Chryslus Rocket 69. This nuclear powered machine features a futuristic look, complete with Jetsons-style bubble top and the kind of tail fins that haven’t been seen since the ’50s."

I ran across this early pic of Ray Fahrner's "Eclipse" while doing a search, and can't resist posting

The car absolutely knocked me out in its original color; but, IMO, lost its luster in the truer blue.

  7. I agree. Notice the under-fenders were white originally.

I know Gary Ritchie from Avon Lake,OH owned at one time. In 1999 it was flat black with flames and wire wheels at the KKOA Leadsled Spectacular in Lexington,KY.

Gary then had it at a couple of the KKOA Leadsleds in Lancaster, OH after it was painted the Sunrise/Sunset orange.

Here's a video from 2003 where they talked to Gary Ritchie about the car at the Spectacular. Ignore the color distortion. Transfering from VHS to digital sometimes causes that.

In an older magazine, it said Roger was from Ottawa Kansas. He cut the rear wheel radius larger to make it look like a 32 Ford? For that Hot Rod look. Here are some scans from Mike Keys Leadsled book. The wheels are still the same, or are similar. Scan0643.jpg Scan0644.jpg

Credit to whoever cut the top on this Cosmo, I can't even imagine how many cuts had to go into that B pillar to get that shape out of it. Maybe that was hand formed? Either way, nice job putting some flow into a really bulky roof. I'd love to see this car with paint.

I'm generally not a flat black and flames guy, especially on a custom, but this Merc really does it for me, for whatever reason. I think I have a pic saved from another angle, without the push bumper. Anyone got any other pics or info on this car?

My Merc is going to have to get built in stages, due to the cost of chrome and paint and the time it'll take me to cut the roof (assuming I do it) but I could see this look being fun for a while and not too terribly difficult to pull off.

  28. I think it was out of Phoenix for a while at least. This was one of the Mercs that was on the market in '07/'08 as I was on the hunt and was one of the Mercs I considered. It was on eBay a few times. I don't know much more than that.
