Wow, that is a neat 59 Ford. I first thought the tail lights had been mounted lower, but checked a stocker .... nope. Just the visual height of the fin, cleaning off the little round back up light and what looks like a modified '61 Chevy rear bumper tucked down low, really improves this car. Short of ultra cool 57 DeSoto bumpers, I can't say I've seen a '59 Ford that got rid of the stock "cupped" rear bumper. Any pics of the front? Even the side sweep looks good on such a boxy car.

Thanks Sancho. Should have known a man who is working on a kustom '59 would have quick access to pics like this. Like the back, getting rid of the stock bumper is an improvement, in my opinion.

  5. Yep, I think that one could use a little heavier (thicker) front bumper. Also of note is the removal of the "bubble" in the lower front fender that matches the contour of the stock bumper.

I agree the front bumper should have been heavier. I like that "bubble" kind a miss seeing it. I wonder what it would have looked like if he ran the bumper through the bubbled front fender. Maybe vent and some mesh. Man I love kustoms. The only limit is your imagination.

[IMG]Is this a Chrysler product ? The front end looks like its coming up out of the water with a reflection of the headlights and grill in the water. Its a good looking modern build.

This shoe box brings to mind the '53 Chevy that the Ayalas did for Bob Lomax.

Already looking a bit dated as it had appeared in print, the car had been transformed to a later style merely by ditching the spots and skirts, and changing the stance and wheels.

Note that the front wheel opening has been lowered, a feature not often seen.
(Interestingly, even in the little pages, Gil's signature candy red paints showed a mismatch between the front fender and door.)

Ray Goulart's beautiful Olds, owner-built from a convertible, with Bel Air HT roof, sedan rear window.

    Ray's brother LeRoy Goulart's famous Winfield-built '50 Ford.
    Note the curved glass windshield.
