I'm sure it's been answered elsewhere but I can't find it, who's Merc is this in this picture? I'd like to see more.

That is Bill Wolfe's '51, built by Winfield in the fifties (as was the Goulart shoebox beside it).
Gene later built a recreation for Wolfe, using one of his chopped '50 fiberglass bodies.

Thanks Mo for posting the picture. Here is some more pics. Don't know why the owner had the doors and hood open at the show. :(

The judging requires it for points if competing for an award.

I know........It sure ruins the lines of a Kustom. Kool should always be more important than an award.

Thanks for the info, that had been bugging me. Neat to see a period custom Merc without a chop OR skirts, I'm sure that was a rarity. Seems to work on this car. The recreation is neat too even if the top isn't accurate since it was still a Winfield build, although those side mirrors are a crime against humanity.

Around here too, I've seen quite a few otherwise period-perfect customs running around with those big painted mirrors sticking out like a boner in sweatpants.

The only good excuse is they are driving it a lot and need to be able to see. I like to see kustoms being driven. They could use a 60's chrome style mirror that would look better than a street rod /Camaro mirror.

I'm definitely not opposed to door mounted side mirrors on customs, it's just that style is so glaringly out of place.

You are so right. We take the handles, chrome, Etc. off to give the car a balanced straight line. Then we open the doors, hood, trunk. The only thing worse would be lambo doors.

Took these pics at this years Starbird show. His show always attracts kool kustoms....

My pick of the show was Bo Huff's 36 Sedan. Love to see kustoms that sit traditionally low.

Another pic from the Starbirds show was Murpho's Ford Coupe. Congrats they made it to the Fine Nine.

Starbird built two kustoms this year and they started the project the end of November. Wow ya got to dig his dedication to Kustoms. I love the T bird clone...

He also built his new bubble top Bird..... Love the taillight treatment.

The koolest car that was parked out side, should have been inside the KKOA area. Don't know any info about the Caddy just that it was too kool...

Not many Kustom Chevys this year, but this is one of the koolest that I have seen. Saw it last year at Pistons & Paint, Murray's shop out of Ft. Worth built this bad boy. This is the way GM should have built them..

Mickey, great seeing you again! Enjoyed the show. We took it slow and Terry's foot held up long enough to walk the entire show. See you in May.

  27. Mick, you must have been avoiding us thugs lol. We looked for you but never ran into you. Saturday after dinner we headed back to catch the demolition derby but your car was gone by then. Mayb we will see you in Austin...or possibly in May...I hear there's an awesome show going on in your neck of the woods around that time lol

What!!! You guys were at Starbirds? Wow we got there at 9am and left at 5:30, that is sad we didn't get the chance to visit. I spent most of the time running around the lower level so you would have thought we would have seen each other. While TJ Mayes and Brian Dunning was playing I was hanging out by the Gears & Gals booth. Hope you guys had a good time...... Not sure if we are going to make it to Austin this year, we are trying. Next time I see ya we will have to make up for Starbirds. Lol!

Thank you Mick , I'm a fan of fade away fenders . Now not all cars look good with that type of kustom treatment , but that one on top Bingo .
