  2. I didn't take a picture of the back. I tried to take as high and angle pic as I could to try to show all the louvers front and back. This car was my wife's pic of the show. :)

  7. A few years after these pics were taken, that blue '58 convertible was at Ft Smith again for sale. I remember it to be about $8500. Man I wanted it, but it may as well have a million.

Also of note are the last two pics....Dave Wolk's first Merc.

Didn't that beauty have a six carb small block?
I wonder how he fit those deeply offset wheels.

yes it did. It was built by Ron Dunham (rip) he also built the bitchin dusty rose 59 with the Hines style tail lights that Jack walker ended up with. Talented guy

Picked up this framed photo at an estate sale today. Flipper caps and skirts and a mighty dapper young owner.[IMG]

  13. Great pics, Straykat! I was always crazy about Doug's fleetline. I remember at the 2000 Leadsled he was cruising around rapping the pipes. It was deafening. His 250 inline six sure could sing!
Miss seeing him around as much as I used to. He left customs and moved on to motorcycles...........E

  14. I still remember talking with the guy about his Pontiac elcamino. It sure was a beautiful weekend here and with the Stray Kat behind me, it just left me wishing the time away until Indy in a few weeks. This thread is just fanning the flames....hope I get the Chevy back together in time. LOL

  15. Doug's Chevy was later yellow:

Not saying it wasn't but I don't remember it being at the 2000 Wichita Spectacular....
He was there with his shoebox:

  16. Hey Dave....any pics of that car?

  17. I remember that awesome slammed shoebox in 2000, but I never realized it was Doug's.
I had to get out my old photo album and do some investigating. You're right, it was at the '05 Leadsleds where he was revving up his fleet and at that time it was yellow. For some reason I thought it was in 2000 in Wichita.
Man, I must be getting older. Some of my memories are getting fuzzy..........E

  18. I remember that one at the 2000 Leadsled. My late friend Charlie and I spent a good while talking with the owner about it. Charlie was very interested in it as he had a Pontiac wagon "in the back forty" that he always talked about making into an Elco style truck. It never came to be though as the wagon was stolen out of Charlie's back lot and never recovered. He figured it was stolen by scrappers.
I found a few pics of the Pontiac from the 20th courtesy of Carnut's site. This time around it was painted red. Cool ride..........E

  23. It's the pics of the white and gold Safari wagon made El Camino. Strangely enough, while I was at the 2000 KKOA in Wichita where I guess the pics of red version were taken, it doesn't appear I took any of it then. Weird.

Well isn't that funny!! Is that the same show I took the pic of the 52/54 Merc convertible and you were standing right behind it looking at me? If not, that is too funny that I would have you in pictures at two different shows and hadn't met you....not that I was walking around shaking everyone's hand introducing myself and asking who they were, obviously. Lol

  25. I remember seeing that limo in some of the mags, Classic & Custom maybe? I think there are pics of it in Tex Smith's Custom Mopar book as well.
I didn't know it was from Kansas though!

StrayKat, Pray tell, from where comes this stash of photos?
    Are they all yours?
Digital cameras were not so prevalent in those days (eighties), no?

  28. 'Mo, I believe these are Dr. Dave's photos that Straykat is posting.
