I know that the GNRS is all about the Roadster but I look forward to the
new Kustom builds. All the big names didn’t disappoint this year. Zocchi’s
Fury? It is just so kool. We were talking the other day about Kustomizing
a late 60’s to mid 70’s cars (5o's style) and the posibilities are unreal. I hope
to see this in person someday.…

The other one that was killer was this Caddy parked besides McPhail’s Ford.
Does anybody have any pictures with the hood and trunk shut? Those
taillights are purrfect for the Caddy.

Rikster again did a great job by adding photos of the Kool kustoms that were
posted on the HAMB. Check out his site for the Kustom 2010 GNRS highlights.
Thanks Rikster for putting it together for us.

    Happy Trails,

I'd like to see more pics of this one. saw 'before" shots of it on a Winfield post, thought it was pretty odd...

  8. Yeah. There was some really nice kustoms this year. The 3 three window ford built by Hollywood hot rods was super nice...Especially since it started as a humbback. If that show was a week long and you went everyday... you would see something new that you missed each day.

Interesting kustom work done to this Merc. What is the story / builder behind
this one? I like that mid 50’s GM droop.

Yes I kinda agree with ya. I guess not to sound purrverted I'd like to see it with the
top off. I love that front bumper, fender skirts and the front wheel wells etc., I hadn't
made it to the top yet. LOL!!

    Happy Trails,

Rick (EXK on the HAMB) at Extreme Kustoms sent me some pics of it before the GNRS with strick intructions not to release them until after the show. He said it has been in the works for about 10 years and that Bill Hines did most of the work on it. He may post some pictures now that it has been officially unvieled. Apparently the body has been pie sectioned.

That appears to be a real convertible top.
Or maybe a lift-off, designed to mimic a convert.
That's what convertibles used to look like!

The car they started with was a 2 door convertible and Bill is know for rewoking them so I would guess it is probably a working convertible top and cant be expected to flow like a Carson topped car.

An added rib would have done wonders just to lift up the center of that top a bit. It sags like a strippers ***s.

Maybe but if it is a working top it may not have been possible to add it where needed.

And in striking contrast to many of the "contest" cars, nothing more than a simple rug rolled out on the floor is all that is needed to set the vehicle off from the surroundings. And a sign for the crowd to read... Gary

This car looks great. I don"t think the top looks that bad. I bet the car would look killer with the top down. I would trade him! Ha Ha

I was talking to Bill Hines at a Starbird show years ago and he was telling me that he was working on a Merc and doing something that never had been done before. He said that
he was tired of hearing You can't do anything to a Merc that already hadn't been done. Hopefully we will be able to see more pics.

Was this Merc in Customs Rodder magazine? I think that I remember a kool concept drawing.
Going to have to hit the books when I get home.

Thanks guys for all of the info.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Yeah this thing was like a tranquilizer...I stared at it for a long time sort of in a daze........very very cool
    [IMG]

I also thought the simplicity of Robert Lomas' '51 was sort of lost in all the clamor....and he did like 90% of the work himself...this thing drips 50's

I was able to go with my grandson and really liked the selection of cars. Honestly, we are all so fortunate to live here where the car is really a large part of our culture.

I just loved the Zocchi car. I like the hotrods but just soak in a good custom. What a show. Really, if you have never been, do yourself a favor and go some time.

"like a tranquilizer" Yes it is, Kool discription of Zocchi's car..... Love mild Kustoms and I'm going to have to find more pics of Lomas 51. She looks timeless.

I know it was a folder, just though that it sounded more Kustom ****ish is I said take
it off and instead of top down. Ha, ha, ha,,.. Ya if you have any more pics of the Merc
or any other Kustoms please post them I need a fix....

Sorry didn't make it out, yet. I'm thankful that we have the HAMB and I was able to feed
my Kustom & Hot rod hunger. I still have kids and want to be involved with them and I don't
want to miss out. I have a few more years and then Renee and I will be going West. GNRS
& Santa Maria. You know what, Snow ****s!!

That is one of my favorite kustom treatments. Very kool!!

    Happy Trails,

    Mick
