...Yeah...I saw this car on ebay as well....I've wanted it ever since, so now I'm in the middle of cloning it....The current owner painted it red and took out the beautiful white T&R interior and replaced it with dark grey ostrich skin high back bucket seats.....I contacted him through Craig's list, but he wouldn't respond.....I'd love to take some measurements of the chop, and get my hands on that old interior........
That is so cool you can magically change the color. I've been thinking black for about a year. After seeing in, I'm not so sure. My problem is, sometimes the purple just feels a little "streetroddy."
Heres my 48 dodge survivor.....hopefully I will be able to get started on it in the next couple of years...anyone recognize it???No luck finding any history past the last 20 yrs...

What about the rear fins? Are you gonna leave them? I think it kinda squares the profile. Love the look of the roof though.
It might look "streetroddy" if you didn't have all the chrome and stainless trim. There so many customs that are black, mainly because how good they look when the body is "PERFECT"! But that is very hard to obtain. And expensive...
At one time this car was on e-bay for $19k with no takers. can i ask what it got up to? and I agree the blue was better.
Yea. Thought about extending(raising) them, but too much trouble for the effect. The angle of the pic sorta gives the illusion of the profile being more square than it really is---the fins have a nice slope up to the rear, and the tops of the quarters will be lower than the fins. I AM chopping off the bulge of the beltline at the rear of the roof when I build the inner bed structure. And Nadeem, thanks If anybody was gonna give an honest opinion, it would be you. I was thinkin' about starting a build thread about this steaming pile.....just wasn't sure how bad I would get laughed at
I think it's a great idea. When you take a car and graft on another roof or front,it's gonna look weird until it's all one color. Have you seen the T-bird with the Starliner roof on it? It's Candy blue. I saw it at Del Mar a couple years ago. It looks really nice. I might have a pic somewhere.
aw yeah Bob...I've seen that 'bird and it's neat . I was thinking about that very car as I was measuring a 60 Pontiac roof for my Fairlane---THAT'S what I wanted to do(plan b, actually...plan A was speedster--no roof) Two things kept off the Pontiac roof---1), it was 3 inches too wide, and 2) I couldn't figure out how to lay the back window down and keep the chop ...short of sinking it--and I'm not motivated or smart enough to pull that off I'm happy with what I got, though. Guess I'll start a thread and quit muckin' up this one My apologies to the custom guys--carry on!
Did you happen to see that orange '62 or '63,Chevy with the Starliner roof? I thought it looked like shit! It sold at Barret Jakson last week.
Bob,the last two pics you posted actually belong into this post... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110845
Yea,but I thought I had some pic's of that T-bird by itself. Those were the only ones I had of that car.
