Already posted this but I think that it is worth posting again....... I had fun talking to this guy at the KKOA Spectacular last weekend. One of the cars that you might have over looked Was this wild Kustom. The guy found the Merc in the Kansas City area and saved it from rusting away. He is having a tough time finding out any history. He was told that Farner may have started it in the early to mid sixties. The Merc didnt get many looks because it is such a wild kustom, some might consider it ugly. I applaud the guy for not cutting away the front clip and adding a stock one. It would have improved the looks but it would have destroyed all of the kool kustom history. The rear quarters were buried in mud. I would have loved o see this Merc finished in a 60s style kustom. Current owner did the Carson style top and the taillights. Like it or not, you have to be impressed that guy didnt try to change the kool history. Happy Trails, Mick
iv just looked at all of the pictures in this thread and it's quite inspiring so iv aded a few in apreciation and now mine iv been buying volvo amazons because i wanted a 49-50 merc but never had the money until now so the last picture is of my merc
I saw this bird in 2008 when I went out to oklahoma . You can't appreciate the paint work on this ride from a pic. U have to see it in person FRANK
well, heres mine that hopefully by next spring itll be a runner any ways, its completly exploded in the shop right now i finished all the major fab work on the frame now its striped to the rails, awaiting sandblasting and frame coat. after all the chassis work is done, its back to the body, lot of finishing work and more custom work to come,
The license plate on the '40 Ford is "U ugly 2" - but that car is far from ugly. I've always loved it.
My 51... I got a new place with a tiny garage so I havent been able to work on it for a couple months but when my new shop gets finished Ill get back to it.
The shoebox is a sweet custom,i agree that the drill is a nice choice.Something that i was wondering and had many discussuions on is "can it be a custom if the car is not an american make and model"? or is custom an american only thing?..any opinions on this?
mannnnnn that sucks, but to tell you the truth i think im going to like it better with the sidetrim on it, seems like it will be more of a refined kustom when it's done. what's your plan for paint?
Darker Copper Metallic On Top with Vanilla under chrome and some pinstripe on hood and trunk. Can't decide if the lake pipes are going back on with the new rocker chrome.
How about some old Mercury pictures. Ralph Schindel sent me these 1995 Lead East pics..... Is this Merc still around? Love the heavy whacked top, Very kool... Very sinister looking.... Does anyone have any better pictures of this grill. I have some show box pics that I'll post tomorrow... Happy Trails, Mick
Mick's apparently caught in an Oklahoma snowstorm...everything's white...!!! Just cuz you can't see pics, BobK, doesn't mean that they aren't there...!!! R-
I see pics. Maybe Kustom Porn of Mercury's are too risqué for the HAMB. That an't funny Roger, I'm not ready for that S#%! yet...... Happy Trails, Mick
Bob, I don't see the pics either. What you doin over there Mick that you are halucinating cool cars where there are none?
I wonder what I did wrong? I see the pictures just fine.... Guess I need to go see a doctor, I'm starting to act like a Newbie..
