John Kouw will be at the autorama in March as well...he will be unveiling Kevin Anderson's "GoldTop" Riviera...I do not know if the Victorian will make it... R-
I've always liked the "road whale" Lincoln, Jay! And Kirk, sweet hoopdy, dude. Well, this car got me hooked forever on customs. For those unfamiliar, it's Curly Tremayne's 50 Merc built by Butch Hurlhey and painted by Rod Powell back in the late 70's in Salinas, Ca near where I grew up. In the early 80's I saw it for the first time bombin' by on the other side of the highway....I couldn't take my eyes off of it! It was like a damn UFO slidin' along the ground! I swore that day I had to have one of my own..... And here's my bucket O' bolts:

I too, think it's odd that you posted Lanny's car to start this thread. Ran into Lanny several years ago at the Oakland Roadster Show and he had heard that the car was in the Northwest and asked if we knew of it. We located it in Canada in a junk yard and set Lanny up with the info and he went to B.C. and picked it up and took it to California and then Louisiana and on to West Texas where he now lives. Say's he is using a doner car and rebuilding this old time custom. Mike at TUFF TIN and now in Aridzona
Here is my POS sitting in my parents driveway since I blew the trans about a year and a half ago. Hoping to finish it this winter...but with a rockin' 53 Merc flatty/2x2's or a rippin' SBC?? That is the question lol...
Even though i`m in love with those classic maroon 39 merc customs, i really liked Mike Young`s car i saw in Austin, Tx. two months ago.. extremely cool and well done car. First late custom i`ve really liked..
I agree.Gary Howard and JLV are responsible for some really tasteful and extremely bitchin' cars... I guess you also wouldn't mind to have this Teee Bird in your garage, huh ? ( While speaking of 60's Customs...)
Forgot to give photo credit for the pic of Curly's car(Andy Southard, Jr. photo) I grabbed this pic off the net: Can anybody school me on the info of this car?
Mike Young..... Will trade for your car! (Mine:55 Chevy 2 dr. post)Inquire within! one of my favorites on the HAMB! Very Cool Ride!!...
You can usually tell a stretched photo job by the shape of the wheels. Those wheels there don't look unusually wider than tall. It's the long spear trim on the body that gives that longer illusion. That great "long" roof style chop sure helps too. You can tell I'm in favor of long side trim on sleds.
