That was about Rob Radcliffe taking the photo's of teh '41 Mercury coupe. And TheFrenZ showed his '50 Ford custom. Here are a few more of his '50. And how about Paul Bragg's sectioned 1949 Ford coupe he built for his wife. This one obviously inspired by the Valley Customs built Ron Dunn 1950 Ford. Paul built this absolutley georgious 1951 Mercury for himself.
50mercfan, I'm with you man! The car went through a several changes in a short amount of time. It was probably most well known when it was pearl white with red scallops. Here it is BEFORE it was white. You'll notice that the back end treatment was already in place however the front was utilizing a 56 plymouth grille. I thought the car looked really good like this. I have a '56 Crown that I will loosely base on this version. I've even seen some shots of the car in about 64/65 with 5 spokes and thin white walls. The car looked awesome no matter what was done to it.
ready for more?? That shoebox is one of my favorite of all times. You should see the pinstriping on that one!!!! LOADS of detail!!! well duh I didn't even put the shoebox I was talking about up, i'll post it now!!!
Great thread Jason. I scoured my files for some pics of a seaweed-flamed tri-five but couldn't find any.. Some really cool cars here. I knew Ron would come through with the good stuff. Some from my files.
Your Kidding!!!! wow what a small world, I didn't know that I loved that car. On the first post I put on here, the Lavender 51 Pontiac was our old car One of these times when were at a show one of us will actaully be at our car and get we will get to meet, lol
There was a feature on the car in Rod & Custom within the last few years. Forgot which issue though........
I hope some body will take a little time to answer my stupid question ! I really love Kustom...so much that i don't like rod, (nobody 's perfect )so i'm a bit ashamed cause i don't really know why the back window on Rob's period shoebox is so low ? I believe it's a state trend way back when, or something like that but... Please don't take offense as i dig the car and Rob's work ( can't stop looking at how to chop a shoebox on another forum !) but my passion is so strong i had to know everything i can on all those white walled kruzers !
Thanks I'll go check my back issues, that's a great close up shot of the headlight grille detail. My guess on the builder is it's either Pratt or Thompson. Here's the old Agostino car after it was restored a few years ago.
Mike, I don't think it was Lee or Doug. In fact, I don't think it was a "name" builder at all. Just someone with A LOT of good taste and skill. Who ever it was really nailed down that '64/'65 era look!
