One of the best threads ever. Since my 59 Buick (the "deathmobile") is still sitting at my friend's machine shop, as he works in ssssllloooowwwww mmmoootttiiiiooooonnnn, and I don't have any updated pics, I don't feel it's worthy to post. Plus I've posted pics of it before and I don't want to be the guy who posts the same picture of his ride 20 times. But looking at these cars has given me inspiration. Last night after looking at this thread I called my buddy to light a fire under his ass to get my motor done. I want my damned car done. Thanks to everyone who posted pics here. This is what I needed to see.
Yup! That's Sonny's Dodge. Been around for years! The Merc 'vert was built by Bobby Simpson, correct?
I thought so, still has the dent in the deck lid, after all these yrs, lol Yes, Bobby Simpson built that car for Otis Eldridge. Bobby was an awsome builder There are 3 of his on this thread now, the 40 Ford convert, the 50 shoebox convert, and the merc!!!
Perfect example of a "mild" Custom.Great combination of correct tires and stance, colors and contrasting interior.Gorgeous car ! (pics by Dave Lindsay)
wow, thats the shoe box I posted that I love, fantastic shot of it!!!!!!! I see it now has Cali plates, guess we won't be seeing it in our neck of the woods anymore. Ha ha, frez, we share the same Birthday!!!
The Kustom 60's style 55 Chevy was built by, and owned by Harvey Bagshaw. Starlite Kustoms, somewhere in NY state. Harvey has a great eye for style, and has built MANY dynamite customs, just never got a lot of recognition nationally. I believe he did Pete Coleman's cars...The green shoebox "Green Onions" and later, Pete's 54 Lincoln. Others as well, maybe 00Mack can fill us in, He knows Harve, and his cars. And Harve is a great guy, as well!
I just dug deep tonight, if anyone wants to see more? Or you might be sick of them by now Let me know and I'll start scanning again.
Please don't stop Debb ! I believe you can scan all yours pics if you want ... I'll look all of them again and again and again and again... That topic is in my favorites... with all those from Rikster... Kustoms are Kool !
My first post as a member here is my Kustom owned it since I was 16 I am getting it ready for the grandnational roadster show in three weeks this is a dream of mine for a kid growing up in Toronto Canada now living in Orange County California.
I believe that's Brian Setzers. I worked on it a while (3 yrs?) back. Valve job or something like that
Yeah Deb, he is still with us but when Phat Rat and I stopped to see him in October he was looking pretty rough. I sure hope he gets some of his old energy back. I wanna see that Miss Elegance II completed and it has a long way to go. BB
