If anyone wants a wristband (free entry) I'm headed into the north Gate on Arrow Highway at 5:45 - 6 AM. Last year my buddy wore a wristband and followed me in and got free parking with it also, right outside the swap area gate.

It's going to be hot. Take water and sunscreen.

$10 to park and $20 entry is reasonable for the best Swap/Show on the West coast, especially when you consider you're local and don't have any travel or accommodation expenses. Splurge and enjoy it once a year. You can't do much of anything for $30. Hell, a round of Golf is easily $75 and I know guys that think nothing of doing that twice a week. Eat before you go, bring water and a snack to hold you and stop for food on the outside when you leave.

$10 parking expensive? Try $25 to park at the LA Forum! I recently took my Son to a concert there and that's what it cost to self park in the lot. I think it's the most I ever paid to park (and being in the hood, had no other legit choices). Tickets in the upper level were $85 ea. + $19 ea. in service fees.
Disneyland isn't cheap, but you'll look like a cheap ass if you tell your kids you're not taking them because it's too expensive/crowded. It's actually a bargain @ $100 when you consider it includes rides. See how much you spend on ride tickets after you pay admission to the County Fair @ $5 a ride. Avoid the crowds by (taking the kids out of school) and hit Disneyland on a Wed. during Jan-Mar. Knott's, Universal and 6 Flags are more reasonable and usually run admission specials if you watch for them.

  6. Trying for 5-5:30am and lining up around back. Bringing the cookies, hopefully we'll run into Bob and set-up base camp.

I don't know about high prices, I always walk away with good parts for fair or cheap prices...............and I'm a cheap ass :).

The Father's Day LARS is the best show on the west coast. I seldom missed it when I lived in the L.A. area even though it was often hotter than hell out there.
I took my '27 T roadster there once it was finished, not knowing what to expect. I was treated like one of the club! It was by far the best experience I have ever had entering a show. Looking forward to entering again before I'm too old.
For those who have never been, it's definitely a bucket list item. Like the CHRR and the eastern HRRs. Sometimes you just have to say to hell with the cost and go enjoy yourself.

Thanks heaps for the pictures for us blokes that will never get to see the show. It amuses me that some guys are whinging about the cost to see what is undoubtedly the greatest hot rod swap meet and show in the world. You just can't please some people.

Who's whining? I'm stating fact. Someone asked me to do it for them and I did it. Get over it. I can't believe the whining that goes on here when people can't read and comprehend. It's not hard to do.

Did anyone notice what they wanted for the Bantam Coupe? How come the California natives complain about the heat? We were there last year and it didn't bother me. Bob

Haven't some of you figured out that sometimes you just gotta be miserable to have fun? This is the best show and swapmeet and truly worth it to me.
