Where are you getting those tires? I'd like to get something similar for my Chrysler, and would like to make sure I know all the options.
A friend had Cokers, and he had issues. If there are other choices, I'd like to know.

  3. When did the 78 series tire come about? I have some L-78 I want to use on the rear of my T, will be early 60s show rod style, on chrome reverse, with 5.60 up front.

If you are talking about my tires. They are Denman L-78s. I got them at a local tire store here in Las Vegas. I think Coker carries them too.

I agree. The wide white you have on there is too wide... but the heigth of the tire looks fine.

Im about to buy Firestone L78s to my 1951 Mercury...Would a Firestone 700-15 be more appropriate?

7.10x15 Firestones on 49-51 Mercs always. In fact I'd put 7.10's all the way up through 54 too. I will tell you that a friend has 7.00's on his '49 Merc and they look great though. so 7.00's or 7.10's nothing else.

7.10's look great, but with Fatman uprights and Aerostar coils tire clearance is an issue, they get into the wheel openings.
7.00's look awesome and are actually an earlier tube required tire
    (info from the Coker rep)
But they are actually a little wider and taller then a 7.10

  14. I started to say that your merc looks real smooth. Sorry about that.

The Lincoln looks good with what you have. Do you have a rubbing problem with the L78s?

I guess the real way to decide is to figure the difference in diameter. An inch difference in diameter is goign to drop you a half inch. That will give you the mechanical changes as for looks I guess I would have to see it.

You have to figure that if you are dropping a ton in diameter that the top of the tire may not hide in the front fender radius. If that happens the tire is going to look too small.
