So after a lengthy thread on the Abody forum, I’ve decided to just get the block squared, decked to .020/.025 below 9.6 factory spec, and run it as-is.
Next up will be a cam change. The one in it might be okay, all I recall was “like an RV grind” so I’ll check the lift and see where it’s at.
    Thanks all!

Cams open up ugly with the lifter problems. I'd just get it built cheap and change only if needed.
If you want to toss in a part that can upgrade later, get a timing set with degree slots.

The plan now is (if I change the cam) to use the lifters, they are new, unused from 25 years back.
I think before just buying a cam, I’ll send the one in it off to get it measured, WTH.

I’d have to dig out the notes I took, but the cam was “okay” for my needs. It won’t make the power as linked to before, but I’ll be fine.
Engine is back together with fresh lube, and will think about firing it off this fall/winter.
