    I though they got the look right, not sure what is hiding under the filler but not really to worried about it.
    I'm just going to smooth it over and put paint on it. Kinda just let sleeping dog lay.

    After opening to many cans of worms myself over the last 50 years, letting the dog sleep can be a less stressful approach lol. Besides a little extra ballast over the rear wheels never hurt on a drag car. Nice work so far James. Keep the progress coming. I think you're going to enjoy this one when it's done. The one Chevy I always wanted to build would be a 37 coupe as a traditional gas class car.

    Thanks I'm try my best. For some reason this car just does it for me.
    There are other personal home projects that still need tending and other peoples projects that need to be finished.
    I started looking at paint today I may be asking for a little help before long.

    What's with the carburetors? They appear to have been "massaged" a little?

    The whole top end has been heavily modified from factory parts.
    That's a factory 2x4 intake.

    James I can relate to many irons in the fire. Retired last May and between the wife's 35 year and counting Honey do list, remodeling the brand-new house we built when we got married. Time and money are always an issue. Come spring I also plan to unload a bunch of projects and parts I know I will never get to so I can concentrate on finishing my 51 Merc and My wife's 66 Mustang convertible. I will be 68 in September and the old back doesn't hold up as long as it used to. lol

    That’s some nice stuff, can’t wait to see it all together and sitting in the car. How about some more pictures of the carb modifications, I haven’t ever seen AFBs given the drag racer treatment.

  9. I got non tinted lexan. The wife bought a bunch from Sabic in the '90s (they bought the rights to lexan from GE) when she was working for GE. They told her that tinting it yourself was the cheaper way to go. Window film is cheap and easy.

    Thanks. So it looks like they just basically smoothed the entries. I did that to the 2GCs I put on my old roadster, those things have a bunch of junk in the air horn for the air to collide with. I would be interested to see air flow tests.

    The engine that these carburetors were on was launching at 6200 and shifting at 7200 RPM.
    All the work was done by Tony Shaffer at Day Automotive in Independence MO.

    So I got my quick change rear out to size it up.
    Do you think the grand national hubs with the 5x4.75 or 5x5 hubs would hold up for drag racing or would it be best to get new axle tubes for a flanged axle be a better way to go?

    Not a lot of headway as of late, I tweaked my back messing with a transmission in a different project. :mad:
    And have the excavating guy here doing some long time wanted dirt work for a larger work space. :)
    Did get a good start on sandblasting the replacement left front fender.

    Best part of building 30's era cars, there is real steel in those fender's !! Sandblasters and BFH's don't scare them. lol
    Take care of that back James, or you will end up walking around like you got a 4x4 up your ass. Don't ask how I know. Thats also a beast of a rear end, looks more like it should be in a pulling truck or something. Larry

    James save yourself the weight and hassle and put some good moser axles in it also will make it much easier to fit tires and wheels voice of experience speaking here

    My buddy Nathan got the fender knocked out. Some what better that the other one but still needs some love.

    The one project that has been taking up time has been some ground work for some more useable space around my house. Something have wanted for a long time. Did some trade barter to help offset the cost for this work.

    This hill just never did anything for me just send rain water down my drive.
    Thinking a large carport with a lean-to that will cover my drive into the basement.

    Well the rain has slowed down the dirt work around the house so got some time to give Geronimo some attention.

    Have any ideas for tail lights for this car, the factory are heavy and not all that attritive?

    A skim coat of additional rear ballast weight and you will be fine! lol Larry

    Aftermarket 39 Lincoln Zepher mounted flush upside down. Think 39 Ford X- Large.

    That's my thoughts Larry, if I try and make it perfect it will never get done. This is going to be a race car that I hope looks good from the stands. Then with some luck I can handle the rest of the entertainment side of things.

    I am sure you can handle the GO part of the show! But you do need taillights, it will give Randall, Jackson and Norb something to look at going down the track! lol

    Well James unless you got a stash of vintage corvette taillights floating around the shop, I think you will find the cost of any number of aftermarket hot rod style taillights much more inviting. lol

    I may know a guy ;) Looking at that light now it my to long, the zephyr light may be a good option.
