Event Coverage LA Roadster Show with my Dad in a '40 Coupe

Last year I made the decision, reading about LARS year after year in all the rags and here on the HAMB was done. I paid my way, grabbed my back pack and flew out for my own experience! I had hoped to go with my father, after all it was father's day weekend. My Dad would not join, he was steadfast by his mothers side during her last days. And Grannie passed that weekend.

So this year I have been brewing a make up trip. This year its a road trip. Our schedules are cleared. The car, Lady Josephine, a 1940 Ford Coupe is ready. Its been a long few weeks prepping her for the trip to Pomona for LARS. A new headliner, bleed the brakes, swap the third member, wiring, a fresh motor, and tomorrow an oil change. Yea, its been busy. And that thread is here.

So tomorrow we leave Denver, CO, look for us along the way, say hello. And I'll post updates with my iPhone App along the way!

I just had to settle for a nice drive last Sunday in the roadster with my old man for Fathers Day.

Thanks guys, we had a short delay, I put in a 2.75-1 rear gear and with the 2.20 first gear the 10.5" clutch started to act up, or smoke rather. I wasn't gonna chance that repair on the road. So here we are at 2 am just buttoning things back up.









We had two visits from the po-po, noise complaints at 11 & 12 pm. I had to put the air tools away.

Not sure when we are pulling out, probably after a shower and a nap.

I figure better at home then in a hotel parking lot!

We now have a 11" clutch and bigger flywheel, should be good. All set for Bonneville!

Good for you for making this trip happen. Many of us planned similar trips but let life get in the way too often. Enjoy and post lots of pictures.

It's 4:55 am mountain time, the car came off the jacks at 3:10...



we made some laps around Denver, and we like it! It cruises 75 @ 2400 rpm.

We are showered and leaving town, the suns at our back side.



I think we are finally on our way.
