Cheesy fiberglass car. He even drilled holes to simulate the rust. I don't get the whole fake rust thing.

Would have been interesting in just that green with the black steelies. No need for the cheeseball fake patina.

Yeah, he took a finished swoopy-doopy high-dollar ride and "reverted" it back to what you see.

  4. that car is too perfect "patina'd" looking, but still car nice car.

  5. Ford didn't make a 3-window in 37, 36 was the last year. Minotti glass body.

Ronnie Roadster did make it also. I was looking for a picture of his Roadster. A friend of mine saw the car out there but did not see Ronnie or Laura.

I understand the Ronnie and Scott along with their wifes are making the IRON BUTT run back East. We hope they bring some better weather with them. We are tired of rain.

I really like this car. They are doing a good job of emulating a late 30's AutoUnion, or Allard. Nice metal work.

I assume this is the car?

Can you share a little more about the car? Did you do the metal work? I looked the car over at Paso and again at LA. I never saw any one around to ask about it though. I would love to see some build pics. I really like the details!

BTW, I was parked behind you on Saturday in the orange 49 GMC pu.

Hey Neal in Atascadero I am from Salinas. I did all the metal work myself from aluminum. Rear quarters are 32 with wheel opening raised three inches. The chassis was built in the 1950's for road racing and was never completed. Chassis was built by an airplane mechanic. 1948 flathead full tilt with all the bells and whistles. 1939 trans, zephyr gear, model A rearend juiced. Front rear sway bars, fully adjustable front and rear suspension. All tube chassis. Great driver. Thanks for checking it out. It was a great show!

Bitchin'...we were wondering if the chassis was someone's old project. It is neat that it is mainly Model A chassis components. What are the front brakes?

I'm with Muttley, I walked around all day Saturday with my Jalopy Journal shirt on and no one said anything.
I did enjoy the show, and it was well worth the drive from San Diego to see it.
It was hot, but being that I am from Fla., it did not seem any different from home.
Sorry I missed everyone that was there, but as I said, no one yelled or said anything.:D

I had my Roadster there parked in the Swap meet area with the Lifters and Shifters cars.

I never saw anybody wearing a HAMB shirt???

Maybe next year we can designate an official meeting spot. We always have plenty of shade over in the swap meet area.

Prices were high but you have to remember that the LA Roadster show sets record prices every year for what is sold and yes people were paying it.

$17K for a jalopy racer 3-w 32 body with only one door???

Seemed high, but stuff is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

I thought is was a great show for looking at alot of really cool parts and cars.

I think this show had more cool parts and cars forsale than any show in the country.

  16. Actually not true.He got the idea at a show when he was looking at a billet trailer queen. It started out just the way you see it.He bought it new with the idea to" patina" it.It never was a "High Dollar " car.He just thought he would try something different. There's plenty of steel pick-ups running around with fake shop logos on them. That car gets lots of attention, like it or not.If someone doesn't like it,it doesn't bother him at all.He built it for fun and that's exactly what doin. He's put 12,000 miles on it since December.By the way,it's a OZE car from Canada. The rust is real, taked out of a rusted pipe he got at work, and sprinkled it around and let the morning dew do it's work.

Hey, uh bad bob, That car (the "perfectly patina-d" car)has a photo album of pictures of that car or a car just like it but yellow with big wheels. I believe it's the same one cause of the sculpted modern Boyd-looking interior. Why would you build something that looks like that on the outside and put an interior in it like that?I like the story of him buying a billet bucket and doing that to it!!

My buddy is flying out from Indiana and we are heading up PCH north and see where the road takes us for a week or so.

  19. That's a really neat little car. I love some of the details, like the screen, bonnet and scoop in the chassis. The european flavour of it is great.

  25. There were many cars at the Roadster show with "fake" patina. There was a glass '32 Roadster in with the real ones done the same way. I personally don't care for the" oversized model cars". I was blown away by the detail, and the response people have when you tell them it's glass. He also put a piece of metal at the bottom of the drivers door,so it would look like a patch panel.

Lots of cool rides there for sure. Sorry I didnt take any picts. I was overly frustrated in the high priced parts. It was like HAMB numbers times ten.

thats rich... its guys like YOU that are jacking prices up... fuckin profiteers

ie. the model A p/u you are pimping all over the place for $14.5k... the same exact truck that was sold as a hook up @ $7k due to a cute sob story. exactly what did you do to the truck to warrant an $8,000.00 increase???

rest assured anyone i know wont be floating anything your way, shame on YOU!

    .............

Marked up 8K & for sale again from a helping hand hook-up ? , I bet everyone wants to hear this one.

The Glass '32 looked like a real barn find with the weathered top and worn out flatty, but the body had fake patch panels that were not steel but a thin line of clear silicone bead on the glass and then painted over to looks like a weld.

    It fooled many people.
